Our History
1977 — Jeff and Jon Watkins build the first Hot Spring® Spas portable spa.
1984 — Watkins introduces Moto-Massage®, the industry’s first moving jet; introduces the first hot tubs in Europe.
1986 — Watkins joins the MASCO family of home products.
1996 — Watkins opens its first manufacturing plant in Tijuana, Mexico.
1999 — Watkins acquires Caldera® Spas.
2003 — Hot Spring Vanguard® spa named Consumers Digest Best Buy.
2011 — Watkins acquires American Hydrotherapy Systems (AHS) including Fantasy Spas and Freeflow Spas; produces its one millionth spa.
2013 — Watkins earns Union Tribune San Diego Top Workplace award.

2014 — Watkins unveils Highlife® NXT spa designed with BMW Group Designworks USA; earns Union Tribune San Diego Top Workplace award again.
2015 — Watkins acquires Endless Pools®, a pioneer in aquatic fitness products; receives Peter Barron Stark Companies’ Award for Workplace Excellence.
2016 — Watkins Manufacturing rebrands to become Watkins Wellness.
2019 — Watkins introduces the FreshWater® Salt System; receives San Diego’s Best and Brightest in Wellness award; produces its 1.5 millionth spa – an industry first.
2021 — Watkins Wellness named #1 Top Workplace by San Diego Union Tribune.
