SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY

Masco values the service and sacrifice of our U.S. veterans, active military members, and their families, and invests in partnerships, programs and resources to understand the unique challenges that come with the return to civilian life and enable an inclusive environment where transitioning service members can reach their potential at our Company.

Forging Partnerships to Further Impact

Employment assistance is the #1 requested service from transitioning military members. Masco is proud to partner with Hire Heroes USA in support of their mission to empower U.S. military members, veterans and their spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. Through our corporate giving programs, we have donated $70,000  to Hire Heroes USA, which, to date, has helped more than 75,000 veterans and military spouses gain employment following military service.
Ways We Connect
From mentorships that help veterans adjust to workplace culture to initiatives that foster inclusion and diversity, our engagement programs honor those who risk their lives to serve in the military.

As part of our Building Allyship Series, Masco hosted a company-wide forum in 2022 to deepen our understanding of military culture and what it’s like transition to the civilian workforce through real stories and experiences from our own Masco family of company team members.

Getting Involved
In 2021, over 100 runners across the Masco family of companies participated in the Run for Heroes Virtual 5k to help raise both funding and awareness for Hire Heroes’ work on behalf of veterans. The team of runners raised more than $16,000 for the cause.

In reflecting on the experience, Masco Support Services employee and US Army veteran, Ronald Strobel, said, “I was very honored to participate in the Virtual 5K Run for Heroes on behalf of those who have served and are currently serving this great country. We should absolutely support heroes and their families who have voluntarily signed up to defend the freedoms we all enjoy.”

Reimagining the possibilities

Masco appreciates the values, leadership, and teamwork veterans bring to the organization.

Taneya R.
Filling Supervisor, Behr Paint Company

Born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Taneya currently serves in the Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant in the Communication Intelligence arena. She was eager to stay close to where she grew up, so the National Guard provided an excellent opportunity for her to give back to her community. She appreciates the challenge the military provides of professional discipline, healthy lifestyle, and in helping her develop well-rounded leadership skills.

She began her career journey with Behr as a tinter in their distribution center. During her first year, she became a skilled equipment operator, and played a key role in the distribution center relocation. In 2022, Taneya was promoted to Filling Supervisor at Behr’s manufacturing facility where she leads a staff of seven team members.

Taneya enjoys working at Behr and appreciates how the organization and her leaders fully support her when she must report for her military training.

Jamie G.
Director, Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding, Watkins Wellness

Jamie served in the United States Marine Corps (active duty) from 2002-2013. He has been in the Reserves from 2013 to current. As an enlisted Marine, Jamie was a jet mechanic and worked on AV-8B Harriers. He served two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and recalls obsessing over mission success, especially in combat.

When Jamie and his fellow marines were in theater, it was game on. They worked hard to ensure the jets were mission ready, often putting in 14-hour days to do so. Though challenging, Jamie said it never really felt like work. Everyone on the squadron knew they were accountable to one another and to the mission, and every day they executed on the flight schedule to support the troops on the ground.

Jamie also finds it important to recognize the spouses, partners, children, and families who support our service members. He credits these individuals as being the "unsung heroes" who sacrifice so much, allowing their service member to answer the call to serve.

Craig P.
Territory Sales Representative, Behr Paint Company

Craig was born and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area and entered the United States Navy after high school. Growing up with a heavy interest in aviation, he entered the Navy as an Aviation Ordnance Technician and reached the rank of E-4 before finishing his enlistment.

He entered the military to provide himself with more diverse experiences through travel and learning about individuals from varying backgrounds. When his enlistment was complete, he chose to return to Cleveland where he is currently a Territory Sales Representative for Behr Paint.

Craig believes the military taught him to take pride in his job, to have a team mentality of working together, and to clearly communicate while working hard to make a better life for himself and his family.
