Employee Stories

“Liberty will invest in you.”

This is the first thing Eli Rodriguez will tell you about working at Liberty. She started off as a temporary associate in January of 2014 but was quickly brought into the Liberty family full-time in March as a Receiving Clerk. Over several promotions, Eli’s roles in various departments – including our only female Reach Truck Operator in years – allowed her to appreciate the teamwork and family environment. “Liberty is constantly doing things to create a fun and engaging workplace.”

While Eli enjoys the diverse culture and career opportunities she has had at Liberty, her most memorable times have been working with her team outside the office. She recalls volunteering for Habitat for Humanity as a very rewarding experience where she enjoyed lending a helping hand. Eli currently holds the role of 2nd shift Operations Supervisor, after several cross-departmental leadership roles.

“Working for Liberty Hardware has been one of the best work experiences of my life.” This is how Jesse sums up his time at Liberty since 2020. Jesse started as a reach truck operator and credits the leadership team for giving him opportunities to grow and develop his skill set. Now as a Slotting Analyst, Jesse is doing a job he truly enjoys. “Liberty Hardware is the most inclusive employer I have ever worked for. I have been very impressed with how actively they spend time and money to train their employees to be more effective team members and to acquire the skills needed to obtain higher level positions.” Continuous improvement has long been a pillar of our culture at Liberty and Jesse’s story illustrates its impact.

As a student at the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC Greensboro, Shanti joined the Liberty Hardware Human Resources team as an intern in July 2022 with the objective of strengthening her interpersonal skills. With the support and knowledge of the HR team, Shanti hopes to make human resource management her field of expertise. Thus far, Shanti has enjoyed every aspect that she has experienced at Liberty. She sees everything she does as an opportunity to improve as a person and a colleague. Shanti is a Bryan Merit Scholar and Chancellor scholarship recipient, and we are excited to see what the rest of this year-long internship has in store for Shanti.

When Christina joined Liberty as a part-time HR assistant in 2019, she was searching for a position where she could “get her foot in the door” like most recent college grads. Christina planned to work here for a year or two to lay the groundwork for a career in human resources. She has a degree in communications and apparel merchandising. “Little did I realize that Liberty was home to incredible, encouraging individuals and possibilities that have given me a professional path unlike any other,” says Christina.

“Christina is passionate about growth and learning. She seizes any opportunity and views it as a challenge to build skills, always doing what’s right for our people and organization,” remarks Christina’s manager. Because of this, she quickly moved from part-time to full-time, has been promoted twice, and is now the HR Business Partner for our Operations Center. Christina has also branched out to work on heat assignments for eCommerce, joined ideation sessions, and is an active member of the DEI Council.

“I am so grateful for Liberty Hardware and everything it has given me,” affirms Christina. “Amazing coworkers who genuinely care about me and my growth, a space for me to learn and make mistakes without fear, fulfilling work, an exciting career path, and bosses, mentors, and friends who made this all possible for me!”
