We are hiring a Vice President of Marketing, North America, at our Vista, CA headquarters!

IN A NUTSHELL

As the Vice President of Marketing, North America, you will play a key role, working closely with the Executive Vice President and other members of senior management, to maximize the overall success of Watkins Wellness’ Strategic and Long-Range Plans.  This visible role within our company is responsible for developing and executing high-value strategic marketing initiatives, leading North American marketing activities primarily for our Hot Spring® Spas and Caldera Spas® brands and collaborating with the Vice President of International Sales & Marketing on global marketing initiatives.  Our ideal candidate will be someone who can think strategically about the big picture, while still staying abreast of the daily details to offer guidance and direction to our Marketing organization.

IS THIS YOU?

  • Are you strategic and business driven?  You will lead and direct all North American marketing activities primarily for our Hot Spring® Spas and Caldera Spas® brands and work with the Executive Vice President (EVP) and senior management to establish and implement strategic marketing plans in order to achieve corporate objectives, develop channel strategies and policies, assess the effectiveness of marketing plans and strategies, and provide appropriate reporting of results to senior management.
  • Are you an exceptional marketing leader?  We are looking for someone that can provide strong leadership and guidance to our Marketing organization of approximately 30 employees (direct and indirect reports) and manage the development and day-to-day activities of our Marketing Leadership Team, which includes Brand Management, Product Management, Digital Marketing, Marketing Creative, and Marketing Communications. 
  • Are you customer focused and able to build relationships? To be successful in this position, you will need to develop an understanding of our dealer customers’ needs, and build solid relationships with industry influencers and strategic partners. Through direct reports, this position also indirectly leads agency relationships, oversees online consumer marketing activities, manages digital agency relationships, and manages online trade/dealer marketing activities.
  • Are you a dynamic communicator? In addition to leading the marketing team, you’ll need to effectively communicate expectations and deliverables, and be able to provide helpful coaching and feedback to team members.  We’ll expect you to model strong interpersonal skills in a highly transparent and collaborative environment.
  • Can you inspire others? In this role, we are looking for an excellent presenter who is comfortable on stage and with other various forms of public speaking.  You’ll partner with our Vice President of Sales, North America, and others within the company, to develop engaging and motivating Sales and Marketing trainings to our dealer customers.  You will also be tasked to create and present compelling content to audiences such as senior management, dealer networks, public groups, internal staff, and the Masco (our parent company) Executive team. 
  • Can you manage a budget? You will be responsible for developing and managing the North American Marketing budget, including staffing and discretionary spending, and ensure that the Marketing Leadership Team is managing their portion of the marketing budget effectively.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related is required. MBA is a plus. 
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible marketing management experience preferably in the one-step specialty Retail Distribution Channel.  High-ticket product marketing is preferred. Broad Marketing experience is required. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good business practices and strategic planning as well as strong decision-making and analytical skills is needed. 
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, managing for results through effective coaching and feedback.
  • Strong customer focus, including the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong presentation skills with the ability to inspire and present to large audiences.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).  Knowledge of and experience with Marketing software systems and tools such as CRM (salesforce), Marketing Automation (Eloqua), Email (Emma), etc. is desired.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 15%).
