Develop and execute sourcing strategies for defined categories of direct material and indirect spend.  Participate on cross-functional New Product Development (NPD) teams by taking leadership role for all procurement aspects of the NPD project.  Resolve technical supply-chain related challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supply-Chain Category Management

  • Review and develop strategic sourcing strategies to be used for the various categories of spend.

•Optimize total cost of acquisition (price, quality, service level, and lead-time) for defined categories of spend (i.e. castings, forgings, valves, etc.).  Assure Brasstech is using the best total cost supply partners in the marketplace.

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of global supply base for specified categories and complete understanding of the cost drivers in the specific category.
  • Manage sourcing projects including value management “should cost,” make vs. buy analysis, source selection, supply agreement negotiation, and transition management.
  • Present Pre-Sourcing bid strategy and post bid Sourcing Awards to internal and corporate Sourcing Boards.

Supply-Chain Representative on New Product Development (NPD) Teams

  • Manage all procurement related aspects of a given NPD initiative
  • Identify, evaluate/qualify, and select suppliers via competitive Request For Quote (RFQ) process.
  • Oversee the First Article or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and initiate long-term supply agreements and/or production blanket orders.
  • Oversee load of initial procurement planning parameters including safety stock, lead-time, buyer codes, forecast, and blanket orders.
  • Ensure a smooth transition to the buying group once supply chain has been established.
  • Occasionally lead sourcing of in house machined components to outsourced temporary local or permanent low-cost country suppliers

Supply-Chain Continuous Improvement

  • Engage with internal (design engineering, quality, production, finance, etc) and external (supplier, sister company, corporate, etc.) personnel to resolve supply disruptions, improve quality, reduce cost, and/or reduce lead-time.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Purchasing, Engineering, Operations or related field and 5 or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Purchasing experience in the plumbing field a plus
     

Certificates, License, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • APICS or ISM certification a plus
     

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated results in negotiation.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independent worker who can collaborate with a team.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes required
  • Organized and able to work accurately and independently
  • Ability to interact with a variety of personnel at all organizational levels
     

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Computer Literacy
  • Intermediate MS Excel (VLOOKUP function, sorting and filtering data)
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems required

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Fluent in Mandarin preferred

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)
     

Other Skills

  • Ability to read engineering drawings required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer or telephone equipment. Regularly sit or stand and move about the facility. Required to be able to read documents and computer screens.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office environment and may have frequent standing and walking in warehouse environment. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate.  The employee may be occasionally exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.
