Sr. Plant Manager

We are searching for a Sr. Plant Manager to join our Operations team at our Vista, CA headquarters!


As our Sr. Plant Manager, you will play a key role in Watkins Wellness’ ongoing success as the leader in manufacturing spas and aquatic fitness systems for world-wide customers.  You will develop and execute the strategic plan for our Vista, CA manufacturing operations that support the company’s overall objectives to produce brands such as Hot Spring® Spas, and Endless Pools®, while having direct and indirect leadership responsibilities for ~400 employees across the plant facility. 


  • Do you have a passion for manufacturing operations?   You’ll be responsible for leading our entire Vista, CA plant operations which includes driving results towards our annual objectives, defining strategies and action plans to achieve those objectives, and managing the overall budget.
  • Are you a strong leader? As our Sr. Plant Manager, you will have direct and indirect leadership responsibilities for ~400 employees at our Vista, CA manufacturing plant. We will look to you to leverage your strong leadership capabilities to motivate and lead your teams to success, provide coaching and mentoring, and develop team members to drive high performance and to support future growth.
  • Can you build strong relationships? As a key leader within the facility, you will need to create strong cross-functional relationships and ensure optimal working relationships between various departments within the plant, such as Production, Maintenance, Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, and Environmental Safety, as well as Quality, Wellness/Safety, and other related teams.
  • Do you stay current? We will rely on you to stay current of trends and best practices related to manufacturing operations and to also keep abreast of local laws and regulations.  You will also be tasked to represent Watkins Wellness at industrial, commercial, or service trade associations and build positive working relationships within the local community and professional networks. 
  • Can you maximize productivity and efficiency? You will lead initiatives to obtain desired results related to productivity improvement and cost reduction while ensuring that the plant is operating at optimum staffing levels to meet objectives.  You will also ensure that overhead and supplies costs are within reason and are meeting our annual budget forecasts and plans.
  • Are you focused on process improvement? You will enhance procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations that ensure products conform to established company quality standards.  You will also lead and inspire teams to continuously improve the plant’s performance as it relates to safety, quality, delivery and cost.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • 7-10 years of direct experience in Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field is required. 
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, managing for results, effective performance management and coaching/mentoring is required, as well as, building and leading quality-focused teams, and utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies, are also necessary to be successful in this role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ‘Total Productive Maintenance’ and experience working with the various pillars within this model is required.  Experience specifically with Autonomous Maintenance, Focused Improvement, Training and Education, and Planned Maintenance is desired.
  • Reasonable proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access); must be able to prepare reports, worksheets, charts, schedules, procedures, and other data as necessary.  ERP system experience is desired. 
  • Demonstrated experience successfully utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with, and present information to, all levels within the organization is required.  Must be able to foster and work in a team environment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to our Tijuana, Mexico facilities on occasion (~2-3x/year).
