Position Overview:

Located in Livonia, Michigan at the Masco Corporate office, the Sr. Tax Analyst will initially join the Asset Management function with core responsibilities including assisting in Federal tax compliance reporting and reconciliation as well as training and supporting business unit personnel on the utilization of fixed asset software and year-end reporting procedures. Additionally, the Sr. Tax Analyst will be introduced to other areas of Federal, State, and Local tax administration including but not limited to tax research, tax accounting, tax analytics, and drafting tax memorandums. Within 2-3 years this position will lead to broader tax professional opportunities within the Tax function.

This position is structured with a foundation around accounting and related responsibilities, but includes an equally strong emphasis on technology, including the design, development, and ownership of the various technology tools utilized by the Tax Department, as well as a significant emphasis on tax reporting and compliance.

Representative Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the federal tax compliance process related to fixed asset accounting, including the preparation of book/tax differences through data collection and analysis, and performing computations.
  • Work cross functionally in the federal and state income tax compliance and tax accounting processes, including federal and state estimates, provisions, and returns, leveraging the SAP and OneSource systems.
  • Assist in the support of Masco’s SAP based tax systems including the design, development and ownership of year-end reporting of fixed assets within the FaBinder™ and other tax related systems.
  • Responsible for the set-up, support, and training of the Sage fixed asset reporting software used by Masco’s business units, including collaboration with other departments to assure adherence to company capitalization policies and procedures.
  • Independently identify solutions for fixed asset related inquiries regarding technical and systems related matters.
  • Perform tax technical research using CCH and RIA software including assisting in preparing the tax appendix regarding appropriate asset classifications, methods and lives used in depreciation calculations.
  • Suggest ideas for continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Excellent customer service skills/interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all business contacts in both written and oral formats.
  • Strong analytical, planning, data analysis, and organizational skills, including effective prioritization of tasks, strong multi-tasking abilities, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite (primarily Excel and Word) with a strong desire to expand skills in all technology aspects of the job.
  • Works well independently, as well as part of a team, fostering teamwork.

Preferred Skills & Qualification:

  • 5 years relevant work experience in accounting related field.
  • Knowledge and experience using Sage Software for fixed asset reporting.
  • Strong curiosity to learn.
