POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Litigation Analyst is responsible for supporting all phases of the litigation process including participating in settlement negotiations, legal research, document filing and attending settlement conferences and mediations.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.)
  • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Provide assistance with case settlements
  • Obtains information required to comply with subpoenas, requests for production of documents, or other forms of pretrial discovery, and conducts investigatory research in litigation matters.
  • Provides litigation support, involving such activities as developing and maintaining files and reports; routing complaints to appropriate insurers/outside counsel; drafting/coordinating responses to interrogatories, requests for admission/search/produce documents, fact investigations and discovery responses, interviews, document reviews/gatherings/productions/indexing; investigates facts, attends trials/depositions, takes notes, and prepares reports.
  • Performs legal research as assigned.
  • Serves as Liaison with Corporate Counsel and outside counsel for litigation and general business matters.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ related experience in risk management, legal or insurance environment
  • Intermediate computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge with excel functions such as v-look up, pivot tables, charts, etc.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically, applying critical thinking when developing claim & case defense strategies.
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Minimum 8 years’ related experience in risk management, legal or insurance environment
  • Familiarity with the plumbing industry and products
  • Product Liability Experience
