Are you looking for the opportunity to lead a site to new levels of safety performance? Our site Safety Manager will improve our safety performance. You will develop and maintain processes and procedures to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, eliminate workplace injuries and continuously develop a strong safety culture at our 133,000 square foot facility in Lapeer. Michigan. You will also be participating as a member of a multi-site environmental, health, safety and security team where you will present standard methodologies and work with team members to drive continuous improvement in our safety programs.   • Demonstrate your effectiveness assisting managers, team leaders and teammates on safety process improvement.
  • Inspires teammates to participate in safety goals through continual communication and drives safety culture improvements via a behavior based safety program featuring peer to peer assessments and other means.
  • Perform regular on-site inspections of physical conditions and safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintains accident data bases for teammate illness/injury then processes the data on injuries and near misses to direct improvement efforts.
  • Prepares materials for, and conducts, safety meetings with teammates with a focus on cultural and safety skills enhancement.
  • Recommends necessary changes to safety processes, including safety rules, practices, training and personal protective equipment programs.
  • Maintains the facilities Safety Data Sheet data base and coaches users on system utilization.
  • Researches federal, state and local standards and regulations. Acts in an advisory capacity to the facility on regulatory compliance matters.
  • Environmental duties include storage and transportation for a small volume of universal waste as well as manifesting of occasional hazardous waste shipments, stormwater sampling and filing of Tier II reporting.
  • Responsible for site security systems including cameras and access control.
  • Participates in fire protection audits and leads corrective actions.
  • Presents program results to all levels of the organization during regular operations reviews and team meetings.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a degree in occupational safety and health, engineering or the applied sciences.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and related government regulations.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as cloud-based data systems.
  • Proven strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in industrial health and safety.
  • Proven experience improving safety culture.

Certifications preferred: ASP/CSP, OSHA 501, Storm Water Operator, HazMat
