Purpose:

As a Retail Sales intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of the retail team by executing projects and/or tasks to support channel sales while working with Product, Marketing, Finance, Customer Solutions team members. This will give you a better understanding of each of these key roles within sales and how the collaboration between them is crucial to the successful execution of any sales plan.


Time Frame:

August 2018-May 2019

15-20 Hours a Week


Responsibilities:

  • Work with National Account Managers to develop sales tools, customer presentations, line review information, marketing/POP needs, and sales functions as required.
  • Travel to customers and trade shows as needed to gain experience handling field situations, line review presentations, co-op trade shows.
  • Work with our retail sales agencies on projects and field assignments to gain knowledge of their place in our business model and insight into how products are sold.
  • Complete detailed competitive analysis within the categories we sell (kitchen, bath, shower, bathing and toilet). Categories that includes complete product offering by brand, pricing and feature set. This analysis will help identify market-driven product opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with retail channel managers to develop channel merchandising aides, display concepts, presentation pieces for the traditional retail channel.
  • Work with Customer Solutions team to gain knowledge of their support and see the interaction with our customers, supply chain, manufacturing plant, shipping as it pertains to our channel.
  • Assist with preparation, execution and set-up for various meetings, customer events and trade shows.
  • Administrative Support to include but not limited to: customer presentation, RCCM, planogram design, ETQ management, merchandising aids, sales reporting (Hyperion and replacement system), supporting customer events and meetings.



Education and Experience/Skills:

The ideal candidate is working on a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing, preferably a Junior. Proficiency in Excel, Power Point and Word, keen attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong communication and time management skills are required.
