A leader in thin-film physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment is seeking a successful engineering professional to fill the position of R&D Manager.

The R&D Manager will be responsible for leading a team of material scientists, physicists, and related engineering professionals to develop innovative coatings and thin film deposition processes. Successful candidates must have previous leadership/management experience in a research environment and working knowledge of vacuum thin-film coatings and equipment. An advanced degree in engineering is required. Experience with PVD and industrial capital equipment is also strongly preferred. Travel is expected to be about 10%.

Qualified candidates must possess the ability to:

  • Lead and provide technical support to a team of engineering professionals

  • Successfully execute technology development and support new product development programs
  • Work directly with customers to define needs and solve problems
  • Prepare and oversee R&D policies, procedures and budgets.

  • Stay current with R&D management methodologies
  • Be flexible and have the ability to work in a fast paced, multi­faceted environment
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrate the highest ethical standards
  • Act as a leader and facilitator within the company

Required experience:

  • Engineering Management: 10 years

Required education:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in a science or engineering field (Materials Science or Physics Preferred)
