JOB SUMMARY:

Performs and facilitates product testing and color evaluations in compliance with accepted policies and practices for design approval.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain corporate quality control documents.
  • Ensure compliance to quality management systems through periodic reviews and audits.
  • Evaluate the maturity of the quality system at each plant.  Based on evaluation recommend and drive system improvements.
  • Support and participate as an active member of the Product Compliance team.
  • Perform product testing and color evaluations in compliance with accepted policies and practices.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications and product changes during the development stages of the design for factors affecting quality, reliability and operation of the product.
  • Facilitate the approval process and database for supplier changes and product launches.
  • Work cross-functionally with purchasing, corporate test lab, product engineering, marketing, and plants to drive projects to completion.
  • Conduct physical tests in lab, evaluate component and finished product results and write lab reports to summarize testing results.
  • Create and maintain test method procedures to be used in corporate lab. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab operations and performance.
  • Participate in projects to reduce cost and/or improve the quality of product and service offerings.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 1 year engineering experience.
  • Experience and proficiency in statistical analysis using a variety of applications (i.e., Minitab).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen activities and Six Sigma processes.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
