The Quality Engineer intern will participate in various product evaluation and testing activities, to help ensure product quality and understand product failures. This position involves contributing both as an individual and as part of a team to work on verifying and improving the quality of new products that are being developed. They will work directly with Quality Engineers as well as personnel in our testing laboratory. Assignments allow you to manage your own tasks while interacting with many other business functions.

Time Frame:

May through August 2018

40 hours weeks


  • using quality methodologies to verify repeatability and reproducibility of testing or measurement methods
  • evaluating and suggesting changes to improve testing and measurement methods while still meeting requirements
  • review of product requirements (prints, specifications) and analyzing product to those requirements
  • review and understanding of product industry standards
  • clearly communicated updates of activities, including reports
  • supplier interaction
  • evaluating statistical or quality data
  • entering data into quality systems
  • working with test equipment to evaluate product function

Education and Experience/Skills:

Working toward B.S. in Engineering or related technical field - must have completed freshman year before internship begins. Completed metals or materials engineering coursework/an interest in materials processing, properties, and testing is desired but not required. Candidate should desire a hands-on work experience and be able to work independently.
