Job Description


Purpose and Scope: The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for:

- The inspection of in-process and finished parts.

- The hands-on training of new production employees on the quality system as it pertains to their job.

- The auditing of the quality system as it pertains to shop floor activities.

Responsibilities: The Quality Control Inspector responsibilities include, but are not limited to, learning the process to:

- Measuring and testing finished and in-process parts as described on the control plan,
and recording that data onto the appropriate audit report.

- Determining the acceptability of material lots, and identifying them as either approved or on-hold.

- Training new employees on the proper use of the production documents and quality
fixtures for their job.

- Reporting any training deficiencies to the appropriate manufacturing supervisor.

- Complying with all procedures, Work Instructions and test instructions as it pertains to
their particular assignment.

- General maintenance and clean up of the department.

- Final auditing in the absence of the Quality Technician.

- Follow ISO procedures.

Job Requirements:

Employees in this job will, periodically, be scheduled to be On-call. This includes some weekends and some holidays.
Employees who, for any reason, are not able to regularly meet the On-call requirements must immediately inform their
supervisor/manager so that a determination may be made as to their suitability for their position.

Required Core Competencies: To qualify for the Quality Control Inspector position, the candidate is required to have:

- A minimum of 1 year of factory experience is preferred. Formal technical training is a plus.

- A basic understanding of computer use and application software.

- Very good math skills.

- A demonstrated aptitude for the position through either their proficiency in related
assignments or by achieving passing scores on the MPI tests.

- Very good verbal communication skills.

- Proven ability to function well in a team environment.

Training Requirements: The Quality Control Inspector is required to complete training exercises in, or demonstrate a working knowledge of:

- Efficient use of Excel.

- Use of all measurement and test equipment in their area of responsibility.

- SPC charting.

- All audit logs in their area of responsibility.

- Blueprint reading skills.

- ISO procedures, Work Instructions and Quality Policy.
