This role identifies quality problems as they occur, working with engineering to analyze and resolve these problems, and implements the necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.  This role audits vendor performance, including vendor visits, when appropriate. This role oversees the tracking and reporting of quality performance on a periodic basis. 

Specific duties

  • Works with engineering and manufacturing to identify opportunities for process improvements, employing lean principles.
  • Create and maintain Manufacturing Procedures.  Perform periodic procedure reviews and audits. Update procedures as needed.
  • Works with Customer Service in reviewing Quality Tickets.  Identify trends, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. 
  • Maintain the Calibration Program, calibrating gauges and documenting results.
  • Oversee the Incoming Inspection Process, create Inspection Criteria, and train inspectors.
  • Investigate quality problems with vendor supplied items.  Visit vendors to review their in house quality procedures and practices.  Work with Engineering, Purchasing, CS and management to review vendor issues, uncover root causes, create Corrective Actions, implement and monitor. 
  • Maintaining proper documents and records to ensure compliance with outside auditors (ETL, NSF, etc.).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    5 years related experience, Experience in a Lean environment highly preferred
    Demonstrated experience in leading Lean events and ability to teach lean principles
    Formal Lean Six Sigma training is preferred
    Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
    Strong ability to work in a team environment
     

    The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
