Production Lead: Developmental Position

Job Description:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Lead will work and assist on tactical and strategic projects geared to improve business key performance indicators.  The Production Lead is strictly a developmental position for growth into future succession planning roles in operations.  The successful candidate is expected to work on an off shift and to rotate as required in support of different work hours, departments and business units as required by business needs or developmental Cross– Training assignments. 

NOTE:  Candidates not willing or flexible to work an off shift, or any combinations of production hours, or rotating to any department or business unit should not apply to this job posting.

Tasks:

  • Enforce, follow and lead by example all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support the activities of employees engaged in the production goods.
  • Confer with other management team members to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. 
  • Assist on planning and establishing work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. 
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Must be actively engaged and support all aspects of Masco MOS strategy
  • With management guidance, must own and improve the business by engaging in the following:
    • Safety Audits
    • MAPS
    • Kaizan
    • VSM efforts
  • Drive big project improvements, such as glue seams, Solid Wood Cracks, Backlog
  • Ensuring correct flow of work in process and processing of said work in a timely manner while keeping aged jobs to a minimum.
  • Monitor Team capacity and optimally and equitably distribute workload, redeploying staff as required.
  • Fill in for absent supervisors
  • Must be engaged daily in production metrics reporting and provide update on KPI’s measurements.
  • Must interact with all team members at all levels of the organization in a cordial, respectful, fair, and consistent manner.
  • Must be flexible, by working any shift, any hour combination, any department or business division, as well as perform their duties as assigned by management. 

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership
  • High school, GED, or equivalent, prefer a bachelor’s degree
  • Competent computer skills, such as Excel, Microsoft, and PowerPoint
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.

Knowledge

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of job safety principles.

Skills

  • Operation Monitoring — watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Operation and Control — controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Critical Thinking — using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Near Vision — the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Reaction Time — the ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal
  • Control Precision — the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
