We’re seeking a product engineer responsible for designing innovative, cost-effective, & customer-focused product solutions for rough plumbing applications with an emphasis on quality and on time delivery. The candidate must have the capacity to work closely with sales, product management, manufacturing & field support professionals to analyze and design products that will meet or exceed customer expectations while satisfying budgetary restrictions.


  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop customized, customer-centric designs
  • Lead and implement stages of product development process from concept through launch
  • Reduce cost of product, and increased production throughput through new design simplification and existing product redesign
  • Assess design form, fit, and function improvement opportunities and develop a prioritized project queue
  • Support aftermarket product modification & quality issues through quick & accurate engineering analyses (FEA, root cause analysis, DOE etc.)
  • Perform risk analysis and present findings to internal engineering and appropriate levels of management
  • Ensure design documentation is accurate, and kept up-to-date, while driving design standardization across all product lines
  • Mentor team members in mechanical design methodologies by utilizing sound communication, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Must be capable of interfacing with all functions in the organization and administering required support activities
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure that designs are both producible and robust.
  • Function effectively, manage projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to supervise and lead product development teams. Although no direct reporting assignment exists, the supervisory traits needed to lead product development are not much different than managing a technical group
  • Able to travel up to 25% +
  • Performs other related duties as needed and assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of new product development experience
  • Familiarity with new product development processes
  • Working knowledge of GD&T with ability to read and interpret documents (drawings, specifications, procedure manuals, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of design tools including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Design Failure Mode Effect & Analysis (DFMEA) and stack up analysis, technical aptitude and familiarity with machining, molding and assembly manufacturing processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships, while working collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management
  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite as well as modeling CAD software (preferably ProE)
