Purpose:

Are you a student that has a real passion for new product design? Do you want to experience what it is really like to work as an engineer in a product development process? If so, Delta Faucet Company has an awesome opportunity for a 5-term co-op starting in January 2020.

As a Product Engineer Co-op, you will participate on a multi-functional business team interacting with Product and Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Marketing, and Supply Chain personnel. You are chipping in both as an individual and as part of a team to design, develop, and provide support for faucets and related plumbing products. You will be working directly with engineers who are responsible for specific brand and product portfolios that range from manufactured and purchased faucet assemblies to accessories, service, and repair components. We are a team that is project-based and designed to allow you to lead your own activities while interacting with many other Delta Faucet business functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on design, specification, and new product development projects.
  • Implement continuous improvements, cost reductions, and product modifications to meet customer and market needs.
  • Support product management activities through engineering changes, creations, bills of material, prototype development, and production tooling.
  • Validate changes via PPAP process and validation testing.
  • Collaborate with product engineers on production part approval, implementation of product changes, and evaluation of non-conforming product.
  • Analyze product reliability through coordination of environmental, performance, and accelerated life cycle testing.
  • Participate as member of multi-functional product development teams.
  • Conduct tests in accordance with prescribed methods. Assist in design and development of specialized test equipment and fixtures.
  • Analyze and test customer returned product failures.

The PE intern will work closely with a New Product Development team to ensure product quality and performance and will be directly mentored by a Sr. Project Engineer.

Education & Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
  • Displays a high level of effort and dedication to performing work; operates effectively within the interpersonal structure; demonstrates dependability and responsible behavior
