The R&D Principal Engineer should be self-motivated and able to work independently and within a team. The candidate must have the capacity to work closely with product management, product engineering manufacturing & field support professionals to analyze and develop products that will meet or exceed customer expectations while satisfying established requirements.


The ideal candidate must have the ability to:

  • Conceive, design, and develop innovative customer-centric product solutions based on strategic organizational goals, including evaluation for technical and financial feasibility.
  • Manage and develop the product solutions from idea conception through field-tested prototype.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into strategic and tactical project objectives and technical decisions.
  • Develop understanding of identified processes for developing the products and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure that designs are both producible and robust.
  • Ensure quality in a product’s design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and manufacturability.
  • Develop test methods, standards and protocols supporting implementation of new product designs.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate and leverage internal and external teams which includes product management, product engineering and partners.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and manage resources for development of the product solutions consistent with established objectives.
  • Function effectively, manage projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.


  • Bachelor Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in new product development experience, familiarity with new product development processes
  • Project Management experience managing multiple projects / project activities in parallel.
  • Working knowledge and experience with GD&T, Stack ups, FEA, DOE, DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Flows, and Control Plans.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling (preferably ProE) and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel (15 - 20%)


  • Master or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Patents


  • Demonstrated skill in being detail-oriented, organizing work, setting priorities and sound decision making
  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with machining, molding & assembly manufacturing processes
  • Excellent written and verbal / listening communication skills required along with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach to learning and performing.
