Purpose:      

             

The Plant Accounting Manager is responsible for all accounting needs of the plant.  This includes: providing financial support for plant operations management, maintaining the general ledger, overseeing the month-end close and budgeting, capital appropriations, and preparing weekly, monthly and annual reports for management in labor, overhead, scrap, and inventory.  This person must be open to new and ever-changing processes and procedures.  This person must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals in a fast-paced environment with specific goals to win.  It is important to have experience with Bill of Materials and Standard Cost Systems in order to successfully perform the duties of this position.  Reporting to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing Accounting, the Plant Accounting Manager has direct responsibility for a Jr. Accountant with full payroll and indirect purchasing responsibilities.  He or she will interact heavily with internal Finance and other staff at headquarters and plant locations and from time to time suppliers and other Masco locations.  The primary focus is on reduction of plant labor, overhead, and scrap costs of $25 million annually and safeguarding inventory and fixed assets of $45 million.  Success will be measured by cost per earned hour reduction/management, cycle count accuracy and avoidance of SOX control deficiencies. 



Responsibilities:

  • Manages all accounting policies and procedures in order to be in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Oversees hourly payroll
  • Manages month-end close process including reporting of financial results with variance analysis
  •  Manages budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting for labor, overhead expenses, scrap and capital with complete variance analysis
  • Provides financial support for all continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitors overhead spending and labor productivity
  • Manages month-end close process
  • Provides timely reports for plant management and headquarters
  • Manages cycle-count/inventory control program including all related reconciliations


Education and Experience/Skills:

  • B.S. in Accounting (CMA/CPA preferred) and 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Access and Word) and preferred experience with SAP ERP. 
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. 
  • High detail orientation and ability to work with attention to accuracy is required. 
  • Ability to conceptualize a variety of unanticipated problems, many times with little or no precedent. 
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance is essential.
