POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director Human Resources – People Services oversees core HR functions for the company: employee relations, labor relations, benefits, compensation, payroll and compliance. Tasked with the day-to-day execution and delivery of these functions, the incumbent will seek to further develop and improve them, ensuring that HR Services are aligned with the strategy and culture of the business. The incumbent will lead of team of HR Generalists and Specialists responsible for supporting the day-to-day needs of employees and managers.  The incumbent will ensure that data and analytics are effectively leveraged in all core HR Functions. The role is a balance of tactical and strategic responsibilities, working closely with the Vice President Human Resources and the Director HR - People Strategy to deliver on functional goals.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a key leader in HR function, supporting the creation and execution of the HR Strategy.
  • Develop the organization's strategy on core HR Services that is aligned with the business’ strategic direction.
  • Coach and provide direction to team of HR Generalist and Specialist across multiple U.S. locations and abroad, providing day-to-day and project support to the business.
  • Demonstrates and maintains knowledge/leadership in HR processes (including but not limited to: Compensation, Benefits, payroll, Leave of Absence, etc.) to conform to evolving business practices.  
  • Lead continuous improvement of HR processes, analyzing new opportunities to proactively leverage HCM technology across the organization to improve business processes utilizing the Masco Operating System (MOS).
  • Identify areas for innovation across People Operations and develop and implement plans to address them.
  • Manage employee relations activities, inclusive of incident investigations and union interactions across multiple locations.
  • Manages labor relations for unionized plant in California. Knowledge of California employment law is a plus.
  • Partner with our legal team to ensure all employment practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Advise on the creation and review of internal policies.
  • Acts as a liaison between other enabling functions (Finance & IT) and HR, collaborating with internal cross-functional teams to provide technical HR advice and solutions.
  • Acts as a liaison between Masco HR service departments and the company, partnering on communications, changes and issue resolution.
  • Work with leadership to further develop a strategy to optimize HRIS system to meet requirements and help drive efficiencies.
     

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing HR professionals.
  • 5+ years of experience in HR processes and systems, including benefits administration, compensation practices, employee relations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience with HCM systems and HR data management.
  • Experience in union negotiations and relationship management.
  • Graduate degree in business, HR or a related field
  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR or GPHR.
