We are seeking a People and Culture Specialist to join our People Strategy and Services team!

Are you drawn to connecting with people and their development?  This newly created position of a People and Culture Specialist will assist in improving working relationships and aligning business objectives with employees, including management, in support of an environment where high performance thrives, the Watkins Way. Working closely with the People Services, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition and Wellness teams, the People and Culture Specialist will primarily coordinate and assist with the delivery of value-added training and leadership development solutions in support of the organization’s business objectives. Additionally, this role will also participate in resolving basic employee relations issues with respective business partners.  


  • Are you organized and detail-oriented? You will use this skill to coordinate, plan, schedule and track training events/programs and participants. You’ll be responsible for facilitating training set-up and assisting with the preparation and distribution of training materials.
  • Are you skilled with operating new systems and software? You will solely administer the Intranet and Learning Management System (LMS) which includes trouble shooting and enrolling participants. Furthermore, you’ll create and distribute the training catalog annually.
  • Can you identify training gaps? In partnership with the People Strategy and Services Group (PSSG) and the Talent Acquisition team, you will assist with workforce planning and perform training needs assessments. You’ll also work with the Talent Development Manager to assist in recommending and implementing training and development programs in line with building high performance teams.
  • Can you create positive change? You will handle basic employee relations issues by improving working relationships, building morale and increasing engagement, productivity and retention. 
  • Are you an active listener? You’ll be asked to administer the employee termination process while working with managers, the People Services team and other appropriate parties.  This will include conducting meaningful exit interviews to collect information regarding employee experience, reasons for leaving and any other feedback. Periodically, you’ll also assess trends and themes around terminations and determine when further action is needed.
  • Are you metrics focused? Part of the job will require you to assist in reviewing and interpreting data and metrics regarding workforce trends and course evaluations to develop solutions, programs and policies aimed at supporting functional objectives.
  • Are you a team player? You can expect to participate often in team projects, meetings, trainings, and other events, such as Kaizen events, when appropriate.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Organizational Psychology is required.
  • 2- 3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of: HR best practices, CA and general Employment Law and State/Federal legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with and successfully influence internal business leaders and employees at all levels. 
  • Must be highly proficient in MS Office suite with the ability to prepare reports, worksheets, charts, presentations, procedures, and other data as necessary. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with and effectively present information to all levels within the organization is required. 
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment and Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English) are pluses.
