Job Description

My Service Center, our Employee Benefits and Payroll Service Center is seeking a Lead Payroll and Tax Analyst to act as a payroll/tax expert supporting our various business units. The incumbent will partner and work directly with key internal stakeholders to optimize and build our Payroll processes in Workday ensuring a lean process and that the system provides a high level of compliance and customer satisfaction for our end users. The ideal candidate will have an intimate knowledge of the Workday Payroll module and a passion for delivering excellent customer service to our business units. If not familiar with Workday, the ideal candidate will be eager to learn a new system.


Responsibilities

  • Support our internal HR and payroll service center with the scoping and design of Workday Payroll solutions to best meet the business needs of our various companies
  • Ensure timely and accurate payrolls are prepared and delivered
  • Participate in payroll migrations and software upgrade configuration changes for Workday Payroll
  • Manage requests for custom payroll reports, and customization activities working closely with internal technical teams
  • Provide clear, accurate and prompt communication to internal teams to assure excellent project delivery
  • Develop Payroll interfaces and processes in support of general ledgers, bank funding, account reconciliations, pay cards, etc.
  • Drive client satisfaction through product and service offering education and training support
  • Perform quarter and year end payroll functions
  • Assist with payroll tax processing
  • Participate in special projects including process improvement teams and technology implementations

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll processing and tax experience
  • Ability to research, understand and apply federal, state and local regulations relating to payroll, labor and employment tax laws.
  • Detailed knowledge of office applications (MS Excel; MS Word; MS PowerPoint; MS Outlook).
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes that can occur with vendor relationships, system updates, policies, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete objectives within strict time constraints.
  • Proactive in resolving issues with employees and business units Ability and willingness to work flexible work hours to ensure payroll deadlines are met.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attentiveness to detail.
  • Integrity and trustworthiness specific to confidentiality and privacy of employee information.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Large company payroll processing experience
  • Experience with Workday
  • Experience completing test scripts
