Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Painter II has previous painting experience and understands the working of a spray gun and how to control the application of paint. The Painter II will ensure, gun maintenance, paints mixing, paint delivery control. The Painter II position will ensure paint quality to include thickness, adhesion and color matching. The Painter II will ensure proper respirator and PPE requirements for proper paint spraying.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and execute MPS objectives; meet MPS commitments and work within the guidelines of MPS.
  • Reflect Milgard quality values and the Milgard Core Values in all painter duties.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of job.
  • Proper usage of personal protective equipment.

30% Painter safety.

Be required to pass all respiratory requirements and PPE protection for painting in the spray booth.


15% Spray Gun Maintenance.

Responsible for gun cleaning and performance, identify when the spray gun is not performing properly and be able to fix the problem or alert a senior Painter for help.


15% Paint Mixing.

Responsible for proper paint mixing to include proper mixing ratios and water addition based on climate levels.


15% Paint Delivery.

Will be responsible for understanding how to spray the paint with a proper fan and distance from product. This will be controlled through air regulation.


25% Paint Quality.

Will be responsible for paint quality, with a focus on Paint thickness, adhesion and color matching.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


Prior painting is requirement (2-4 years); A strong safety and quality ethic is required. Attention to detail and consistency is essential for a good painter. Previous manufacturing experience preferred.


EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous spray gun experience required over 2 years

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:

  • Able to compute basic math problems.
  • Problem solving ability and ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Good hand eye coordination and the ability to discern colors.
  • Ability to work in, and promote a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • 80% of the time will be performed in a spray booth and 20% in a mixing booth
