Purpose:

As a Packaging Engineering Intern at Delta you’ll make an impact by putting your packaging engineering knowledge to work. You’ll gain exposure to the practices of packaging engineering at a best-in-class, diverse and dynamic company by working within a small team of expert engineers to craft creative solutions to meet customer needs. By the end of your internship you’ll be able to add to your resume an impactful packaging project, which you’ll lead, as well as many other packaging related experiences. You’ll return to school with a new-found appreciation for the way that principles and practices of packaging engineering work together to craft impactful solutions to market needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve Delta’s packaging design documentation by working within Delta’s Enterprise Resource & Product Lifecycle Management systems
  • Analyze packaging problems, identify root causes, and develop creative solutions to meet packaging related needs
  • Verify and validate effectiveness of packaging designs by conducting packaging transit and environmental tests per ISTA standards.
  • Author and implement Engineering Change Orders and effectively communicate implications of packaging changes and requirements
  • Grow Delta’s engineering body of knowledge by developing and documenting work instructions and standard operating procedures for packaging related components and business processes
  • Create packaging drawings, samples and written analysis of proposed packaging designs for approval
  • Develop pallet stacking patterns, product packaging layouts and instructions for assembly

Education & Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in packaging science or engineering from an accredited university
