Delta Faucet Company has a great opportunity for a Packaging Engineering Intern to join our Indianapolis Engineering Team. Delta's Packaging engineers design, develop, and implement complete new product packaging solutions that exceed the expectations of Delta's customers.

Nature & Scope:

Are you well-organized, self-directed, and looking to learn more about the practice of Packaging Engineering? If so, this could be the internship opportunity for you. Delta's Packaging Engineering interns work under the guidance of experienced packaging engineers to support new product developments, quality improvements, customizations, and cost reductions.

Principal Accountabilities:

Principal accountabilities include:

  • Populating, and maintaining packaging attribute data within Delta’s ERP/PLM system
  • Analyzing packaging problems, identifying root causes, and developing creative solutions to packaging related challenges
  • Applying company standards to ensure graphics, copy and compliance / regulatory related information is properly applied and designed into packaging components
  • Verifying and validating effectiveness of packaging designs by conducting packaging transit and environmental tests per ISTA standards.
  • Authoring and implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) as needed and effectively communicating implications of packaging changes and requirements to all affected functional areas
  • Growing Delta’s engineering body of knowledge by developing and documenting work instructions and standard operating procedures for packaging related components and processes.
  • Assisting in the creation of packaging drawings, samples and written analysis of proposed packaging designs for approval
  • Developing pallet stacking patterns, product packaging layouts and instructions for assembly

Education and Experience/Skills:

You should be in pursuit of a BS in Packaging Engineering or related engineering field, from an accredited four-year college or university. You need the ability to work on multiple projects and be able to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team. Exposure to packaging engineering fundamentals is preferred but not required.
