The Network Administrator manages and maintains all network hardware and software, including switches, hubs, routers and firewalls. Must have previous experience working in a mixed environment network consisting of Mac OS X, Linux and Windows servers and workstations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Operations Design and Deployment - Responsible for architecture of solutions that are consistent with the strategy of the overall infrastructure landscape.Success for this position requires consistency, standardization and metrics management of our critical business systems.
  • Support or lead continuous improvements in the Data Center, and physical network to ensure a world class environment without any single points of failure or reliability issues.
  • System Administration and Monitoring - Primary support and/or backup for operations of our business critical systems.Success is measured in metrics and automation of the daily functions.
  • Independently ensure that all critical systems are appropriately upgraded for necessary application and security patches.
  • Independently and actively monitor and manage the core business systems such as Reporting and Backup applications. 
  • Ensure change administration for infrastructure, ERP and Reporting applications.
  • Determine standards for desktop hardware and software platforms
  • Ensure that all SOX requirements for this position are met and no deficiencies throughout annual audits.
  • Perform all server installations.
  • Project Management - Lead efforts to bring and/or update technology to the business in the areas such as virtual computing, servers, network and reporting. Provide strategic input with appropriate decision making and exercising high levels of judgment on overall network planning and related projects.
  • System Security - Ensure security is maintained according to department and SOX standards.Provide investigations and lead efforts where necessary into technology to support operational security tasks.
  • Business User Support - Superior and cost effective end user support.Resolve issues that are complex and difficult to the satisfaction of the business.
  • Mentoring - Transfer knowledge, offer assistance and guidance - Make everyone else better.
  • Provide level 2 and 3 escalation support for issues that are technically challenging and requiring high levels of judgment to satisfactorily complete.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years’ experience as a Network Administrator in a mixed environment network consisting of Mac OS X, Linux and Windows servers and workstations. Extensive experience with Server administration and design, LAN and WAN design, implementation, and administration. Experience with TCP/IP, network monitoring, and ActiveDirectory.  In addition, experience with Virtual technologies is required.

The individual must be able to interface with co-workers, internal departments, service providers, and customers in a fast paced environment that requires multi-tasking.    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.  

COMPUTER AND OTHER SKILLS

Advanced knowledge and understanding and practical experience with a range of computer and networking software and hardware systems and related technologies. This position requires a demonstrated understanding of enterprise operating systems and a broad knowledge of current and emerging computer/network system technologies, architectures and products.  This knowledge should include, but is not be limited to:

  • Security Concepts (Servers, network, desktop and applications)
  • Network Operating Principles
  • Desktop Operating Systems
  • LAN/WAN Technologies
  • Interoperability protocols, gateways

Must have the ability to install, configure and maintain production level servers, personal computers, networks and/or related hardware and software.  Additionally, must be able to professionally document all standards and procedures for installations and maintenance of the production environment.
