Milgard Windows & Doors is the leading manufacturer of windows and doors in the Western United States with operations in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, and Texas. 

As part of Milgard’s Continuous Improvement Cultural Initiative, we are in need of a strong Manufacturing Engineer in our Tacoma, WA manufacturing facility. 

We are desirous of an individual who has:

  • 3- 5 years of solid manufacturing engineering experience in a busy, complex manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Degree is Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Lean tools and their application
  • 1-2 years of experience in cost initiatives with ability to complete ROI
  • Successful implementation of scrap reduction /OEE improvement initiatives
  • Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present to middle management.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Some of the key activities and responsibilities of this position will be:

  • Develop improved manufacturing methods/processes to improve quality and productivity of our production system + reduce waste.
  • Implement OEE on identified pieces of equipment and demonstrated improved results.
  • Lead TPM/Kaizen activities to improve OEE through our operations. 
  • Organize line layouts for improved manufacturing capability, space utilization and material flow.  Work with production daily to identify equipment improvements, tooling, labor balancing and workflow.
  • Design and improve tooling to improve production capability and repeatability.
