The Manager, Supply Planning is responsible for leading the activities of the supply planning functions company-wide.


The Manager, Supply Planning is responsible for the ability to balance the often-conflicting needs of efficient manufacturing, low-cost procurement, financial results, and customer service levels. The supply planning department is responsible for coordinating a master schedule, collaborating with major customers, managing inventory, procuring purchased parts, and planning production. Most of the activities of the department are heavily driven by computer systems and the analysis of data.

The position holder is often leading change to many of the company’s systems and processes. These changes impact almost all areas of the company, including sales, marketing, customer service, manufacturing, and finance. Therefore, internal contacts are frequent with many different departments.

The supply planning group manages the production and inventory levels for approximately 10,000 finished good SKUs and roughly 8000 components. Inventory levels managed are approximately $60 million.

Principal Accountability:

  • Manage a team of 4+ employees
  • Leads and directs the activities of department employees
  • Manages the procurement of some direct material purchased parts in collaboration with Purchasing
  • Provides leadership on projects to improve customer service and inventory levels
  • Provides a training and development plan for employees
  • Participates in cross-functional teams
  • Oversees FG & WIP transfer from manufacturing to DCs (distribution centers) as well as DC to DC
  • Responsible for the coordination of all new product/program management interface with supply chain including forecasts, distribution plans, business cases and inventory request

Education and Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in production planning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in Manugistics planning software


  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft access and intermediate level knowledge of MRP/ERP manufacturing system
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in teams with members with various disciplines


  • APICS Certification
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification
