Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide receipt and interpretation of work orders through the maintenance departments computerized maintenance management system.

• Interface with outside vendors and other resources to determine needed replacement parts and acquire quotes.

• Purchase repair parts, tools and supplies in ERP software for non-tool crib items.
• Possess a clear understanding on how to successfully apply troubleshooting skills to effectively determine root cause for equipment and or machinery downtime in order to quickly return production to normal status. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques.
• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and specifications, and when necessary be able to communicate to engineering any requested changes.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to facilitate repairs/adjustments to equipment or machinery.
• Periodically perform preventative maintenance tasks in all areas of the facility where deemed necessary and or as instructed.
• Possess a clear understanding of the specific function of various piping systems and their components or processes which can include pumps, piping, valves, and surge suppressors for the continuous safe operations used in the facility.
• Possess a clear understanding of the specific function of various controls for the safe operation of equipment such as tube mills, bailers, carton strappers, automated assembly machines, automated bagging machines, stretch wrapper machines, human machine interfaces (HMI), continuous belt furnaces, air compressors, powdercoat lines, lift trucks, evaporative coolers, and other equipment found typically in the manufacturing facility.
• Apply and maintain proper lubrication techniques to various facility equipment as mentioned above and any other equipment as needed to ensure proper function to reduce equipment downtime.
• Possess basic to moderate welding skills in any various processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIGW), and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIGW), and the use of an Oxy/Acetylene set-up for brazing, welding, and cutting.
• Possess basic to moderate fabrication skills using various metal and sheet metal tools and machinery such as mills, lathes, band saw machines, metal brakes, and shears.
• Works under minimum supervision. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environments and conforms to all safety regulations and practices.
• Works flexible hours, workdays, shifts (including overtime) to accommodate production needs with given as much advanced notice as possible to include weekends.
• Possess moderate to advanced computer skills to navigate and effectively use various computer programs to perform routine work such as a computerized maintenance management system, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Microsoft Office programs as Word & Excel or any other company related programs related to job duties or functions.

• Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic programming and troubleshooting skills preferred.
• And any other duties as assigned.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Considerable maintenance experience involving all the skilled trades; manufacturing background desired
Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motors, controllers, pumps, conveyors and furnaces/ovens, air compressors and labeling equipment
Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and industrial electrical systems and their respective repairs.
Ability to meet the demand of continuous improvements within the facility

SAFETY:
Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
Properly inspects equipment and completes any forms as required.
Wears and maintains all required PPE.
Understands all safety devices and their operation.
Keeps maintenance department clean, organized and safe.
Completes required paperwork for use with portable welding equipment and ladders, etc
Ensure the safety of the department as well as machines to ensure the safety of plant personnel
Ability to safely use basic hand tools such as a hammer, screw driver, pliers, wrench, and all various hand tools.
Ability to operate safely various electrical power tools such as drills, grinders, punches, band saws, pipe threaders, soldering tools, hoists, etc.
Responsible for the safe operation of a fork truck, scissor lift, or any other powered industrial lift within the facility.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:
Knowledge of general industrial & electrical safe work practices.
Knowledge of programmable logic systems (PLC), instrumentation & machine sensors.
Knowledge and use of a work station computer programs and computerized maintenance management system transactions.
Capable of reading and understanding operating and repair instructions of new or existing equipment/machinery.
Ability to walk up and down stairs numerous times during the day.
Ability to service, troubleshoot, and repair basic to advanced electrical devices such as cords, boxes, receptacles, motor control installations.
Desired knowledge preferred in the following areas: Control Circuits, Schematics and Print Reading, Digital Electronics,
Test Instruments, DC Theory, Power Distribution, Piping and Combustion

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess mobile toolbox and appropriate good quality hand tools to support your departmental customers.
