POSITION SUMMARY:

Utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts manages all Machine Shop functions to maintain and reach the highest quality and efficiency of machined product while maintaining safety for all employees.  Coordinates the production of machined parts, supports corporate and local engineering on new part designs, new tooling, and machine processes.   Partners with all management team members to achieve personal, team, and company goals. This position will be located at a facility in the greater Dallas, TX area.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs all employee activities and changes on shop floor
  • Directs all Supervisors to achieve safety, quality, efficiency (OEE), and cost metrics
  • Identifies and implements countermeasures to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost metrics
  • Create and monitor adherence to various department budgets such as spending and staffing
  • Implements, maintains, and enhances Preventive Maintenance (PM) of all machine shop equipment
  • Facilitates necessary repairs to maintain a high state of performance on all machine shop equipment
  • Coordinates the rebuild, replacement, and installation of equipment
  • Partners with Engineering to fabricate and implement new tools and fixtures for new products
  • Partners with Engineering to fabricate and implement improvements to existing processes, tools, and fixtures
  • Coordinates some Tool Crib functions
  • Facilitate efforts with suppliers on new product development and improvements to existing products
  • Implement and maintain a lean manufacturing culture
  • Maintain employee morale and engagement
  • Performs other related duties as needed and assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred plus 5 years managerial experience
  • Minimum of 10 years shop related experience preferred
  • Must exhibit good leadership skills
  • Machining, assembly, tooling, and fixture experience is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess good planning, coaching, facilitating and coordinating skills
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must have a passion for developing and making others successful
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships, while working collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management
  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
