JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:

  • Conduct basic and applied research in the area of emulsion polymers and additives.
  • Design and develop emulsion polymers.
  • Formulate paint using synthesized polymers.
  • Prepare, test and compare experimental samples.
  • Provide analysis and conclusion of work performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Follow basic lab safety guidelines and regulations.

Develop, improve and customize emulsion products.

Synthesis of emulsions and application of the same in paint formulations.

Recognize chemicals (monomers, surfactants etc) and processing issues related to emulsion batches. Suggestions to resolve the same.

Prepare samples using laboratory dispersion and blending equipment.

Make suggestions for product or process improvement based on producing and testing product samples.

Conduct standard tests following Standard Test Procedures including, but not limited to, viscosity, ICI, gloss, tint strength, density, pH, and scrub tests.

Record and report test results.

Clean and maintain test equipment, and work area.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Educational attainment equivalent to MSc (Chemistry preferably Organic / Inorganic / Polymer). Work Experience in the range from 0 to 1 Years.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:

Knowledge of basic lab skills.

Knowledge of chemical lab safety guidelines and regulations.

Knowledge of polymer resins, components (Monomer & Surfactants) and crosslinkers.

Preference will be given to candidates with synthesis experience.

Ability to understand any organic chemical reaction.

Ability to understand the reasons behind the testing procedures.

Ability to make some analysis and draw conclusions on work performed.

Communication, filing and some basic computer skills are required.
