JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:

  • Provide technical management to facilitate planning and directing the design, installation, modification, and operation of heterogeneous, dynamic enterprise systems

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software, and technical services to ensure adherence to technical specifications.
  • Manages information technology supervisors and employees through the hiring, development, mentoring and succession planning process.
  • Occasionally performs administrative or engineering duties as needed on projects, technical problems and resource backfills.
  • Ability to manage complex technical projects and upgrades using project management tools and methodologies.
  • Define, support, and ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and or participate in long and short-range plans for application selection, platform architecture, systems maintenance, production activities, and for necessary support resources.
  • Plans and recommends changes to the capacity of IT systems and their configurations.
  • Interface with all levels of management, employees, vendors and consultants to achieve IT objectives.
  • Prepares cost estimates for current and proposed projects, reflecting the equipment and staff requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • 8 or more years experience in the Information Technology field with at least five years of experience supervising employees
  • Experience in managing major information technology platforms or concepts in the following areas:  SAP, DB2, SAN, Backup, Server Hardware, Networking, Disaster Recovery, High Availability, UNIX, Microsoft, Security, Internet, Web Systems, Portals, Intranet, IT Auditing, VOIP, Telecommunications, Call Center Technology, Shop Floor Automation

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Solid knowledge of computing systems, data communications, networking, Internet, storage, business continuity, telecommunications and security
  • Knowledge of general business operations and functions
  • Ability to plan, organize and conduct systems analyses
  • Ability to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to management, customers and employees 
  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively resolve problems and exercise good judgment in making decisions 
  • Ability to successfully negotiate the acquisition of necessary equipment and services with vendors and management
