Job Summary:

KICHLER LIGHTING LLC is seeking a dynamic, proactive Import Compliance Specialist to join its growing company and report directly to the Manager of Global Customs Compliance Manager. The Import Compliance Specialist will be responsible to maintain import compliance data based on Untied States Customs laws and regulations in accordance with Kichler Lighting LLC policies and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determining the classification of KICHLER LIGHTING LLC products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and Canada according to General Rules of Interpretation (GRI’s), Binding Rulings, Explanatory Notes, Informed Compliance Publications
  • Responsible for maintaining the Classification Database within KICHLER LIGHTING LLC ERP system
  • Audit US Customs Entries 7501’s to make sure that tooling payments, HTS accuracy, valuation are correct.
  • Responding to US Customs Broker requests for information (HTS Code, FDA Information, TSCA, and other OGA requests) in order to clear shipments timely and accurately
  • Participates in compliance reviews, projects and training efforts
  • Assist Global Customs Compliance Manager with other department tasks
  • Facilitate cross functional projects with Accounting and Engineering team

Technical/Other Skills Required:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in importing and exporting proven International Export/Import Compliance experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the clearance of import shipments to the U.S., customs brokerage, interactions with brokers and Customs and Border Protection
  • Practical experience applying US Customs regulations, US Export Administration Regulations and license requirements, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, General Rules of Interpretation, INCOTERMS, and brokerage
  • Capable of working independently, accurately and conscientiously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal personnel to ensure successful delivery of KICHLER LIGHTING LLC customs compliance and international trade program objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business or other related fields
  • 3-5 years’ experience in trade compliance, transportation or logistics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Access & Excel

Minimum of 2 years of relative experience and knowledge of U.S. Trade and other government agencies regulations (e.g., BIS, DDTC, Customs, FDA, EPA, FCC) is preferred
