Key Responsibilities:

Directs and coordinates human resources activities and recruiting by performing the following duties personally or through HR employees.  The key objective of retaining, attracting and engaging the best employees and aligning HR efforts with business objectives. 

  • Consults Masco Human Resources and Legal to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law. 
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance and communication of records required by law or governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
  • Recruits, interviews and selects employees to fill key positions, as needed.
  • Reviews and revises, interprets and implements company policies and procedures.
  • Directs EH&S Programming and monitors key metrics to recommend and oversee implementation of counter measures.
  • Coaches and develops HR staff toward meeting their individual goals. Oversees professional development among HR staff.
  • Coaches and counsels’ employees and management on employee issues and company policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure that policies comply with federal and state law and accomplish desired cultural (talent attraction, retention, disciplinary objectives etc).  Collaborating within Kichler and across Masco on benchmarking and on any escalated employee issues at the direction of the VP HR.  Assists in litigation matters.
  • Assists in employment -related litigation matters. Investigates, documents and reports employee grievances.
  • Helps revise and develop company policies and communicates to employees. 
  • Compensation framework by analyzes wage and salary reports and data, internal and external, to determine competitive compensation plans in conjunction with Business Partners.
  • Helps with talent processes and systems such as performance, career and succession.
  • Manages various HR projects and annual processes as needed.  (Employee Engagement Programming, Total Rewards roadmap and annual implementation of HR Programming).
  • Oversees recruiting process and tools including contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services and works with Procurement to negotiate temporary agency services and rates.
  • Provides timely service to internal and external customers professionally and with required discretion.
  • Respects co-workers and fosters atmosphere of teamwork.  Serves as role model for HR employees and among peers.
  • Creatively considers ways to increase efficiency, contain cost, and make improvements on a continual basis.
  • Develops and maintains positive employee relations.
  • In general, this position needs to do the following (in addition to the day-to-day HR responsibilities):
    • “Keep the pulse” of the staff and communicate perceived needs within HR,  and develop plans to meet those needs.
    • Be proactive in providing solutions to any HR-related issue including turnover, morale, management development, etc.
    • Understand the business and how human resources relates to meeting company objectives.
    • Be a critical resource for management in making decisions related to staffing, development, promotions, counseling, terminations, etc.  This position must be comfortable challenging and working one-on-one with management and must have the respect of the staff.
    • Directly or indirectly supervises employee(s) in the Human Resources Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Bachelor's degree (OD, IO or MBA preferred)
  • HR Certification (PHR or SPHR)  (preferred)15+ years progressive HR experience to include direct responsibility for recruiting process, HR process design and talent decisions benefits and general compliance vendor management
  • 2-3 years HR management experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
