Our Morgantown, KY facility has an outstanding opportunity for a Group Leader that will provide direct supervision to the production work groups and team leaders. Responsible for: ensuring safety policies are followed, resolving operational issues, recommending and implementing improvements to processes; reducing costs; quality assurance; training and development; on-time delivery; and employee engagement.

Nature & Scope:

You will be responsible for performing short to mid-term planning for budget management, project coordination, leading improvement activities, and supervision of production team members/shift day-to-day. You will oversee and/or participate in safety, quality, delivery and cost improvement projects. Other areas of responsibility include development of team leaders, support of new product launches, development of standardized work procedures and finding creative solutions to issues.

Dimensions:

Works with cross functional teams within the plant and organization to meet goals and objectives. Fosters a team work environment for your shift but also fostering a strong relationship with other shifts to strengthen teamwork and unity for the success of the department.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure strong working relationship between shifts to support unity and teamwork.
  • Lead and sustain compliance with plants Shop Floor Management System
  • Lead and promote a dedicated approach to ensure a safe working environment
  • Participates in the selection process of Team Leaders
  • Promote 5s activities
  • Complete required audits
  • Lead, promote, and support continuous improvement activities
  • Plan and facilitate lean manufacturing activities
  • Utilize visual aids for reporting and continuous improvement
  • Apply data analysis tools
  • Appropriately staff and schedule departmental personnel with planning to ensure production requirements are met at lowest possible cost
  • Lead and train all new team members
  • Ensure and support machine set-up, maintenance and operations
  • Observe and coach team members on work related issues.
  • Plan departmental operations by establishing priorities
  • Development of Team Leader Skills.
  • Develop, revise, and enforce to standard work
  • Delivery Schedule attainment
  • Support new product launch efforts
  • Coordinate Team Member vacation time and record absenteeism

Education and Experience/Skills:

You will possess a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Management or related field with a minimum of two years supervisory experience preferably in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
