  • Develop new products and refine existing products.

  • Lead general product development on adhesive, caulks and sealants
  • Maintain and update product specifications and performance properties for research purposes.
  • Conduct competitive bench marking product analyses and develop product development strategies.
  • Define test parameters, including areas not previously investigated. 
  • Direct raw material evaluation tests.
  • Direct product performance studies.
  • Solve complex issues relating to the color system.
  • Train and monitor the performance of Research and Development Chemists and Junior Chemists.
  • Substantiate, review and justify conclusions reached by Research and Development department activity



  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Thorough experience in chemical analysis and industrial research applications


  • Thorough working knowledge of advanced math and chemistry and their applications
  • Thorough working knowledge of chemical formulation and composition as applied to research
  • Knowledge of raw materials and proper equipment to be used in testing practices
  • Knowledge of adhesive, caulks and sealants formulations
  • Knowledge of production operations and processing methods
  • Knowledge of quality and process improvement concepts, principles and methodologies
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and practices
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suites and/or software applications related to job functions
  • Knowledge of applications, product features and competitive advantages
  • Ability to train and educate technical personnel in a wide range of technical areas
  • Ability to solve difficult problems and effectively participate in innovative research
  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled
  • Ability to maintain laboratory research and testing records
  • Ability to prepare periodic reports, inspect raw materials or finished products for adherence to quality standards
  • Ability to exercise initiative in designing and implementing independent chemical research
  • Ability to distinguish fine color gradations for testing and analysis purposes
  • Ability to use laboratory processing equipment used to make and test products
  • Ability to recommend and justify budget expenditures relating to capital equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
