We are hiring an Electronics & Software Engineering Manager to join our Engineering team!


As our Electronics and Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a small team to develop and maintain various leading-edge embedded software, hardware, and IoT platforms for control and support of Watkins Wellness’ products such as, Hot Spring® Spas, Caldera® Spas, Freeflow Spas®, Fantasy Spas®, and Endless Pools®.   You will also lead the development of test automation software and equipment, and guide the specification, design, coding, debugging, testing, and maintenance of such software and related hardware, all the while ensuring that our products and systems conform to design and project specifications and are completed on time.


  • Are you a techie?  In this role, you will manage both hardware and software design and development and create requirements and specifications using strong design practices, quality systems, documentation development, and lean concepts as we continue to improve our products and offerings to provide “The Absolute Best Hot Tub Experience®” for our customers. You will also lead your team in specifying, designing, coding, debugging, testing, validating, and maintaining embedded control systems, applications, and related test automation platforms.

  • Do you have strong project management skills?  You will use your project management expertise and Agile methodology to oversee development projects and ensure objectives and deadlines are successfully being met.  You will also validate new product designs, including system integration and forward and backward compatibility assessments to ensure overall compatibility to other product systems and designs.
  • Are you a problem-solver? We will look to you to troubleshoot post-launch issues when they arise, and use your excellent problem-solving skills to make decisions, even at times when limited information is available.
  • Are you customer-focused? You will lead the electronics and software development that is designed for manufacturing, high reliability, and optimal cost-performance ratio of the end-product.  You will also apply product safety requirements to software design and provide evidence of compliance for regulatory clearances to ensure that our products maintain a high level of safety for our customers throughout.
  • Do you believe in documentation? You will have oversight to create and ensure strong project documentation and GIT repositories for software version tracking to support ongoing communication and teamwork within the engineering team as well as to other departments within the organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering is required; Master’s or MBA is preferred.
  • Eight (8) years’ work experience in embedded electronics; Two (2) years of team management experience is strongly preferred. Experience in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence is a plus and preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile project management practices.  Agile certification is a plus. Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded and IoT devices is desired.
  • Must be proficient in structured software design, object-oriented design, data structures, problem solving, complexity analysis, clean coding techniques, and debugging, and have a solid understanding of electronic design and hardware, and the ability to write and manage software requirements, use cases and traceability matrices.
  • Programming experience in C or C++ and a solid understanding of electronic design and hardware is required.
  • General proficiency in structured software design, object-oriented design, data structures, problem solving, complexity analysis, clean coding techniques, and debugging is also needed to be successful in this position.
  • Knowledge of and experience using software version tracking systems (GIT, SVN).
  • General familiarity with any of following technologies is a plus: wireless protocols such as WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, USB, iOS, Mac OS X, IP protocols, serial interfaces, A/D conversions, and various hardware subsystems, Microchip PIC16, PIC18, PIC32. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to effectively present information to various audiences such as senior management, customers, external vendors, etc.  Must be able to interact with all levels within the organization comfortably.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to document and write reports, procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on occasion (U.S., Mexico, Asia)
