Mercury Plastics LLC, a Masco business unit, is located in Middlefield, Ohio. We have been in business since 1965 providing custom thermoplastic products to the appliance, automotive, construction, liquid dispensing, marine, medical, off-shore oil exploration and plumbing markets.

The Electron Beam Operator will be responsible for the operation of a DC electron accelerator that is used for radiation processing. The Electron Beam sits adjacent to our main plant and is an integral operation within our value stream, providing enhanced properties to materials in our products.


  • Safe operation of processing vessel/ electron beam equipment; using instrument and controls.
  • Closely monitor the process on computer monitors and manipulate controls as necessary.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret production schedules and ensure appropriate output to service the customer.
  • Review product and process documents and instructions.
  • Ensure products meet standards and quality specifications.
  • Provide input to engineers and management team as needed to support operations.
  • Follow all safety requirements and expectations.
  • Inspects equipment for unsafe conditions and reports to supervision.
  • Conducts minor equipment maintenance repairs and ensures good housekeeping practices.
  • Work as an advocate of continuous improvement and provide suggestions when appropriate.
  • Minimizes downtime by adjusting schedules as needed throughout the shift.
  • Maintain flow of product by loading/unloading product.
  • Responds to process related issues and equipment alarms.
  • Contributes to the team environment and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of HS diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 year technical/trade school degree preferred (preferable in instrumentation and controls, electrical, and/or mechanics)
  • Electrical engineering degree or pursuant of such preferred.  


  • 1+ years in industrial, manufacturing, or processing experience required.
  • Experience working with instrumentation and controls preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain self-drive is a must.
  • Demonstrated problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience related air systems, vacuum systems, DC motor and drives, logic and analog circuits, water chiller systems, RF output signals, and System interfaces preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems preferred.
  • Experience working in Extruded Plastics and/or Injection Molding preferred.
