  • Responsible for Global Sourcing (indirect & direct materials) & Supplier Quality functions.
  • Create and strive to maintain a world class global sourcing organization.
  • Supplier Development – oversees critical supplier quality development activities to improve productivity, defect reduction, and reduce costs in a global contract manufacturing business model. This includes analyzing current vendor services and cost structures to develop short- and long-range plans to improve sourcing costs and vendor performance.
  • Develop, lead, and facilitate ongoing process improvement strategies; streamline sourcing and quality practices to ensure alignment with organizational business strategies and corporate performance objectives.
  • Ownership of individual and team employee development; set department objectives and monitor performance to achieving year-over-year cost reduction and continuous improvement of procurement processes.
  • Utilize data to identify and analyze low-cost country capability, vendor identification, evaluation, certification and improvement in service, cost, reliability and quality.
  • Develop and utilize supplier performance metrics; drive continuous improvement in a global supply base. 
  • Leader and coach responsible for hiring, performance management and development of direct reports.
  • Continue to develop the global sourcing organization as the Preeminent Partner with the rest of Liberty Hardware functions.
  • Create a robust global matrix of suppliers to facilitate competitive costs, innovation development and speed (demand responsiveness and inventory reduction). Quality is an assumption. Create guiding principles for this matrix like “no more than 25% of spend with a supplier” in any commodity.
  • Drive significant annual savings through implementation of the full array of purchasing tools - contract agreements (e.g. volume price breaks, payment terms), structured RFP’s, price negotiations, confidentiality agreements, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering, new product design teams, supply partners, and category groups to meet new product introduction timelines & cost targets.
  • Support the sourcing organization in Asia to facilitate new product projects & supplier development.
  • Provide expertise in leveraging global commodities markets.
  • Establish and drive explicit year over year challenges for the supply base based on the product needs, external market trends, supplier performance improvement opportunities and the expected rate of technology insertion.
  • Drive the diversification strategy and its implementation.
  • Document current state processes and business systems and compare to benchmarking data and/or best practices to identify performance gaps.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to supply chain metrics and performance standards to secure benefits for the Liberty Hardware product development processes, suppliers and/or the customer (e.g., cost savings, new technologies and innovations, operating efficiencies).


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (APICS/ISM designation preferred).
  • At least 10+ years of sourcing experience in progressively senior positions, operations experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability of managing projects, cost performance, coaching, supply/demand forecasting & distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources.
  • Builds relationships easily, both internally & externally.
  • Global Market sourcing experience is essential. Remote management experience desired.
  • Experience in the usage of a full array of purchasing tools.
  • In depth knowledge of key supply chain processes & current best practices.
  • Project Management and Quality expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating/upgrading the supply chain function in an organization of similar size and scope.
  • Supplier Quality Management experience.
  • Supplier relationship management tools (beyond scorecard).
  • Developmental agreement (to protect IP in upstream projects and manage cost).
  • Demonstrated history of delivering year over year cost savings, building partnerships with suppliers globally, and productivity improvement through Lean practice implementation in low-cost countries, leveraging continuous improvement, and Value Added/Value Engineering.
  • Strong written and communication skills, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel globally, approximately 25% of time.
  • Direct knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and world-class supply chain practices and metrics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to prioritize to focus on high-impact initiatives.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistent delivery of results and continuous improvement working with a global supply base.
  • Ability to use data to identify and analyze low-cost country capability, vendor identification, evaluation, certification and improvement in service, cost, reliability and quality.
