Position Summary

The Director, Masco Operating System – Lean, in conjunction with our business units and corporate leadership, has responsibility for the continued development, promotion and strategically aligned implementation of Masco’s enterprise-wide operating system designed to drive world-class results in customer satisfaction, quality, on-time delivery, customer-value, and ultimately operating financial performance.  This leader will provide thought leadership, strategic direction, and tactical implementation for the development and enhancement of a continuous improvement operating system across Masco’s Business Units. 

The Masco Operating System (MOS) is paramount in the achievement of our Strategy.  MOS is the Culture and the Tools to define Who we are and How we work.  MOS is the core engine in driving the continuous identification of opportunities to drive for performance and the methods to close those gaps. 

The Director, Masco Operating System – Lean is a key strategic role.  The objective is to accelerate Masco’s Business Units’ operational excellence by focusing on transformational initiatives that drive improvements in overall performance.  The emphasis is to recognize the highest impact process opportunities and drive to high performance outcomes; and deploy a continuous improvement culture and tools across Masco’s business units.

This position is highly visible, reporting directly to the Vice President, Masco Operating System.  It is expected to be a high impact role, and a prospective succession into future functional leadership.

Position Key Responsibilities       

The Director, MOS – Lean is responsible for building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement across all our business units. 

Specific responsibilities include:



•Work directly with Business Unit leaders and MOS practitioners to instill a lean and continuous improvement culture supported by MOS tools and training.

•Recognize and prioritize highest impact opportunities across Masco’s Business Units.

•Provide thought leadership and execution for developing strategies to build “best” process for performance through the active facilitation of improvement workshops and Kaizen.


•Work to build training and deployment materials, and lead the deployment strategy both directly and through extended teams.

•Achieve real results at our Business Units through coaching, mentorship, and execution.

•Directly support operational and administrative support functions at our Business Units to achieve strategic objectives through the use of developed tools, conducting workshops and Kaizen events.

•Develop talent at sites through teaching, coaching and mentorship.

  • Help drive best Masco “best practices” across our Business Units. 


Position / Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have:

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; preferably engineering or the sciences.  MBA or MS degree is preferred.
  • Accreditations in the areas of lean, quality, innovation and/or project management.  Lean Six Sigma or Master Black Belt is preferred.


Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated operational leadership experience in manufacturing with a minimum of 10 years of broad operational experience.  Minimum of 5 years work experience in lean / continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and track record of delivering results in a high performance, continuous improvement environment through the implementation of and expertise in lean management methods.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of lean /continuous tools and training curriculum.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
