Position Summary

The Director, Masco Operating System – Commercial, in conjunction with our operating companies and corporate leadership, has responsibility for the continued development, promotion and strategically aligned implementation of Masco’s enterprise-wide operating system in partnership with commercial facing functions and processes.  This leader will provide thought leadership, strategic direction, and tactical implementation for the development and enhancement of a continuous improvement operating system across Masco’s business units.  The Masco Operating System (MOS) is paramount in the achievement of our Strategy.  The operating system focuses on creating a Culture of continuous improvement, enabled through a common set of Tools, to drive above market Impact. The Director, Masco Operating System – Commercial is a key strategic role.  The objective is to accelerate Masco’s business units’ growth by focusing on transformational initiatives that drive improvement in our more customer facing processes.  The emphasis is to recognize the highest impact process opportunities and drive to high performance outcomes; then deploy across Masco’s business units. This position is highly visible, reporting directly to the Corporate Vice President of MOS.  It is expected to be a high impact role, and a prospective succession into future functional leadership.

Position Key Responsibilities    

The Director, MOS – Commercial is responsible for building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement across all our business units’ Sales, Marketing, Product Management and related functions. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with business unit leaders and MOS practitioners to instill a lean and continuous improvement culture supported by MOS tools and training.
  • Recognize and prioritize highest impact opportunities across our business units.
  • Provide thought leadership and execution for developing strategies to build “best” process for performance through the active facilitation of improvement workshops and Kaizen.
  • Work to build training and deployment materials, and lead the deployment strategy both directly and through extended teams.
  • Build and advance the operating system toolset to drive growth.  Execute against commercial playbooks.
  • Achieve real results at our business units through the coaching, mentorship, and execution.
  • Directly support Commercial leadership at our business units to achieve strategic objectives through the use of developed tools, conducting workshops and Kaizen events.
  • Develop talent at sites through teaching, coaching and mentorship.
  • Help drive best Masco “best practices” across our business units.  

Position / Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; preferably business, marketing or finance.
  • MBA or MS degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of business experience; robust experience with customer facing roles in Sales, Marketing, Product Management, or like roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a related field. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and track record of delivering results in a high performance, continuous improvement environment through process optimization and facilitation.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of continuous improvement tools and training curriculum preferred.
