We are currently seeking candidates for our Director, Human Resources position at our headquarters location, Middlefield, Ohio. Reporting to Mercury Plastics’ Chief Operating Officer, this position will provide HR leadership in the management of Mercury Plastics’ company-wide employee relations and talent management policies and practices.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with Mercury Plastics’ functional and operational business leaders, and HR staff, the incumbent is responsible for:


  • Overall Human Resource leadership for all of Mercury Plastics.
  • Providing leadership in deployment of Masco’s Talent leadership framework including, talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, employee training and leadership development, performance management, employee engagement, change management and process improvement.
  • Ensuring the development and implementation of effective human resource strategies and policies which help Mercury Plastics achieve business results. Initiates development of new policies or challenges existing ones to enhance effectiveness.
  • Driving the people and organizational strategy directly and through others to support the business. Partners with Mercury Plastic’s senior leadership to develop the next generation of MP leaders.
  • Handling complex HR initiatives and issues to include supporting and/or leading M&A activity, union negotiations, employee relations issues, etc.
  • Incorporating the use of analytics to improve business decisions.
  • Working closely with Masco specialist human resource functions (e.g. Compensation, Benefits, Employment Law, etc.) where needed to accomplish a specific business or organizational objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with all appropriate HR statutes and regulations.
  • Planning and implementing organizational and recruiting changes based on business conditions or resulting from mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and reductions in force.
  • Developing and promoting feedback mechanisms for employees to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
  • Maintaining and sharing knowledge of progressive HR practices, key trends and changes in employment laws and regulations.

Position / Candidate Requirements


Education:

Requires an under-graduate degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. Advanced degree preferred.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related Human Resources experience preferably in a publicly traded, multi-unit manufacturing company.
  • Minimum of 7 years demonstrated employee and labor relations experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major change initiatives with significant impact on the business.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and developing employee skills and abilities.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
  • Track record of a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, motivation and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and deliver strong results in a matrixed, team environment.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
