Job Summary:

Exciting CI Intern summer internship, working with a top consumer goods company in the kitchen and bath segment.  The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful, professional hands-on experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential.  This internship offers the opportunity for meaningful contribution to the CI department’s business objectives while experiencing personal professional development. 

The CI internship will be based in Mt Jackson, VA at Masco Cabinetry’s Manufacturing Plant.  Interns are responsible for maintaining satisfied clients by delivering assistance and administrative support to the CI Team.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate Kaizen Teams for the continuous improvement of lean manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and lead quality assurance standards in coordination with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Develop continuous improvement and training schedules.
  • Write, review, evaluate, and modify training programs and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Keep informed on manufacturing improvement processes to keep plant at a competitive advantage.
  • Maintain training and cost reduction files.
  • Observe, communicate, and provide solutions to organizational training needs in areas including administrative, professional and production.
  • Six Sigma Continuous Improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field
  • Minimum two years of college completed
  • Major GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively express thoughts/ideas through written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Leadership experience
  • Member of school or national HR organizations
  • Previous related work experience
