Position Summary

Masco Canada is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be part of their senior leadership team, help drive business growth and profitability, participate in setting the strategy and direction of the business, and share responsibility for their overall business results.  The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company along with responsibilities associated with the business unit’s long range and annual operating plans. The incumbent will have direct responsibility for the following activities:  accounting and reporting, cash management, cost accounting, financial forecasting and analysis, transactional pricing, governance and compliance, due diligence activities associated with acquisitions and divestitures, and customer financial services.  The CFO reports to the President of Masco Canada and leads a team co-located in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the executive leadership team, takes a leadership role in the development of Masco Canada’s long range and annual operating plans of the business.
  • Directs, develops and manages Masco Canada’s Finance and Accounting function; developing the Finance staff to be a business partner across all functions.
  • Directs and oversees all of Masco Canada’s financial reporting and analysis needs. Ensures the accurate and timely close of Masco Canada’s financial statements on a monthly basis.  Provides a review of financial statements to appropriate Masco management and Masco Canada management.  
  • Oversees the auditing, control and governance functions.  Leads the identification, assessment and mitigation of enterprise-wide risks. 
  • Manages the organization’s capital expenditure budgeting process including project approval, project costs, cash flow and return on investment.
  • In cooperation with the senior leadership team, explores, identifies and captures revenue growth opportunities for the business.
  • In conjunction with operations, supply chain and sales, manages working capital levels to maximize cash flow opportunities.
  • Participates and contributes across Masco Corporation to leverage best practices.
  • Develops talent for current and future needs of the business.  Includes attracting, retaining and transitioning talent within Masco Canada’s Finance function and throughout the organization.
  • Active participant on the organization’s strategy deployment process team. 
  • Continuously evaluates and drives improvement in the practices, processes, procedures, organization structure and people under their management.

Required Experience

  • 15 plus years of demonstrated success as an experienced leader and financial executive for a $500M plus multi-site, complex consumer/manufacturing organization.  Public company experience preferred.
  • US and Canadian GAAP knowledge and experience. 
  • Strong business acumen and talent leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and reporting, cash management, cost accounting, financial statement analysis, forecasting and transactional pricing.
  • Demonstrated success and extensive experience in acquisitions and divestitures, and business integrations.
  • Superior collaboration and communication skills with executive presence.
  • Strong strategic, planning, organizational and change management skills; also conflict management abilities.
  • Demonstrated success designing and improving a Finance organization’s practices, processes, procedures and organizational structure.
  • Demonstrated success building high performance teams and developing people.
  • Working knowledge and experience with an enterprise-wide ERP system.

Required Education

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance; a MBA and CGA, SMA, CA and/or CPA accreditation preferred.
