Job Description

Channel manager acts as a liaison with sales and product marketing. They align go-to-market strategy with retailer objectives to drive end user take away at retail. The channel manager is an expert in the category and channel. They will use their expertise to assist in successful product launches, deliver customer presentations, manage account profiles, monitor competitive retailer and retailer online activity, and form plans to increase market share.


  • Functions
    • Category management analysis to improve strategies and plans
    • Communicate value propositions and training tools
    • Manage effective launch of new products, including communication and training
    • Develop tactical in-channel marketing plans, sales strategies and materials for specific market needs
    • Partner with training organization to develop training tools including iPK training materials for existing and new products
    • Develop performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones
    • Utilize competitive trade promotion – field visits, market track analysis for product mix, promos., pkg., pricing, and TraQline
    • Develop and implement category and promo strategies (NLPs, rebates)
      • Monitor competitive promotional activity
    • Work with product and visual merchandising teams for in-store merchandising, displays and promos
    • Work closely with Product Marketing, Sales and Sales Administration to successfully execute new product and in-store display launches
    • Identify and establish distribution strategies including online opportunities
    • Develop and manage in-store collateral and iPK materials
      • Partner with Shared Services and approve activities to generate consumer demand with the end user (in-store, and retailer online)
      • Retail content including promotions for all online activities


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree

2+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing field


KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and tight timelines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, especially PowerPoint.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel on limited basis

  • Specific Activities for PRO segment


    Sundries

  • CM will manage the sundries business.
    • Includes working closely with the THD merchants and their sundry vendors
    • Works closely with MASCO Coatings team on strategy alignment and execution of the strategy.
    • Provides updated reports and analysis to senior management on the progress of the Sundries program.
  • Pro Instore Materials

  • Responsible for in store PRO materials
    • Working closely with Sales, Product Marketing, and the Marketing Shared Services group to execute all in store POS for BEHR brands.

      BEHR Products Liaison (selling strategy)


  • Work closely with all product managers, paint and stain and specialty to develop Pro user specific content – including features and benefits that are Project and Pro specific.
  • Develop materials in conjunction with the training team for the PRO sales force to enhance the PROs experience with BEHR products.
  • Develop specific selling tools with Marketing Shared services and sales to drive incremental project sales with the PRO and their customer.
  • Market Opportunities (Sales analysis and sku oppty)

  • Conduct retail and market audits to compare BEHR products to the market needs and the competition.
  • Conduct audits with the sales and product teams to discuss BEHR white space opportunities for any new products
  • Manage CRM for THD/BEHR

  • Conduct analysis on CRM events for THD and BEHR.
  • Working with the PRO marketing manager at THD to agree upon the most effective events.
  • Responsible for tracking the annual spend in conjunction with THD PRO marketing.
