Category Analyst - Sourcing

The category analyst will facilitate the strategic sourcing process for assigned categories.  

  • The position will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing functions to:  
  • Research, identify, evaluate, and onboard competitive global sources for assigned categories ensuring lowest total cost of ownership. 
  • Manage the RFQ process via e-sourcing tools for NPI and TCP projects as assigned, analyze quotation data, and recommend placement based on lowest total cost of ownership. 
  • Work with vendors to build should cost data for key materials and processes. 
  • Perform segmentation analysis of spend along key commodity and 2nd tier inputs, identify shared volume opportunities, use insights to drive cost out activities 
  • Lead the vendor assessment process via RFI events and ensure ongoing recording of vendor information and metrics. 
  • Facilitate the execution of cost reduction projects against annual total cost of productivity goals  


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts in new vendor research and outreach establishing global contacts for critical material sources 
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of sourcing options through online research, attending trade shows, and vendor visitations.  
  • Work closely with Asia Sourcing team in broadening the organizations' understanding and management of critical second tier suppliers. 
  • Ensuring that all correct inputs are received and organized in preparation for quoting event 
  • Publishing and monitoring the progress of vendor review and quotation of the event 
  • Facilitating vendor questions regarding event details such as engineering and specification requirements 
  • Collecting and analyzing quotation data and presenting a recommended placement to the project team 
  • Drive cost reduction projects based on RFX insights through vendor communication, negotiation, and cross functional engagement. 
  • Position will be measured on their performance as realized through Total Cost of Productivity savings achieved for their categories within calendar year. 
  • Manage the RFI process with new vendors, making sure that all necessary data is received to begin the evaluation process 
  • Create documentation and communicate Standard Kichler Business Practices to new vendors 
  • Ensure that all negotiated documents (i.e. contracts) are successfully submitted for approval, signed, and returned to vendor for record keeping 
  • Analyze the costs of Kichler products and their components through cross SKU analysis of key manufacturing inputs and keep records of same.   
  • Collect market pricing data and maintain a “should cost” database for assigned categories 
  • Perform spend segmentation analysis across product category, commodity, vendor and other product attribute to drive insights on consolidation and cost out opportunities 
  • Position will maintain a category scorecard of approved sourcing options that will including core metrics of spend, capacity, on time delivery, quality, and cost.   
  • Position will assist in annual supplier risk analysis events by providing key metric analysis. 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience within Kichler. MBA preferred. 
  • 3-years work experience including design, development, manufacturing, and procurement experience. Successful track record of global sourcing a plus.
  • Must have a history of handling multiple projects concurrently while managing timelines, scheduling, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and experience communicating with Chinese team members in a manner that is easy to understand by them.  Chinese or other foreign language ability preferred. 
  • Must be able to work cross functionally with various departments and coworkers of all levels including Asian suppliers.
  • Proven negotiation skills with proven track record of contractual and pricing negotiations a must.  
  • Advanced use of MS platform including Excel is preferred.
