POSITION SUMMARY:

Maximizes revenue and minimizes credit risk through the collection and application of Customer payments.  Reconciles Customer accounts accurately and resolves deductions and disputes timely.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit & Collection

  • Support the establishment and maintenance of sound credit and collection policies and procedures to minimize credit exposure and protect company assets, by monitoring the credit worthiness of new and existing customers, enforcing existing payment terms and establishing controls to ensure that credit terms granted are approved and in accordance with policy
  • Support the credit review and approval process for new and existing customers (review credit report, determine credit limits, review credit scoring programs, etc.), establishing credit limits and terms
  • Monitors for potential high-risk customers and concerns and report on customer payment habits.
  • Support the develop and implementation of policies and procedures necessary to ensure the timely and efficient collection of accounts receivable from customers, while optimizing the company’s working capital through the achievement of cash flow and days of sales outstanding targets
  • Partner with sales and customer service to resolve customer disputes and to improve order processing
  • Apply cash and process deductions (Auto-Cash, EDI, manual, sister company XRT and credit card transactions, including non-Trade Receivables)
  • Update and balance daily cash journal, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Support the design, maintenance and use of automated workflows used to facilitate the review and authorization of various accounts receivable-related transactions (e.g. billing errors, buybacks, field-destroys, freight, penalties, price discrepancies, product returns, etc.)
  • Utilizes advanced excel skills to analyze large Customer accounts and transaction detail.
  • Approve and process workflows within authorized threshold
  • Identify and recommend system and / or process changes to ensure efficient and effective transaction processing, while maintaining or enhancing strong internal controls
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, trends and practices
  • Communicate and build strong working relationships with customers and internal business partners
  • Responsive to both internal and external customers and vendors and provide excellent customer service

Financial Reporting

  • Support the achievement of a timely, complete and accurate month-end closing process
  • Prepares various month-end analysis, reports, entries and reconciliations

Internal Control

  • Support the design and maintenance of a strong system of internal controls of accounting systems to ensure the safeguard of company assets in compliance with corporate policy and U.S. GAAP
  • Support the implementation, maintenance and documentation of controls related to order to cash 
  • Support the periodic testing of controls and ensure consistent adherence of key controls is achieved
  • Able to travel up to 10%+
  • Performs other related duties as needed and assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ of experience gained through progressive responsibility in Credit and Collections
  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience with General Ledger systems, Stratum, or other reporting tools; ASI / JDE experience
  • Familiarity with the plumbing industry and products

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships, while working collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
