Liberty Hardware is seeking an experienced Vice President, Global Sourcing who will have overall responsibility for  responsible for setting the vision, developing and executing the strategy and leading the team to drive cross-functional alignment, accountability, business growth, productivity and profitability.  Specifically, this leadership position which reports to the President of Liberty Hardware, will have overall responsibility for the organization’s Procurement, Global Sourcing, Supplier Development, Engineering and Quality teams and activities.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the functional teams of global sourcing, procurement, supplier development, quality and engineering.
  • Works across organization to develop process improvement, metrics and company execute objectives.
  • Ensure global supply chain efforts are focused on profit improvement.
  • Works with global team in low cost countries to ensure sourcing and product supply strategies provide a consistent and competitive flow of product that is engineered to meet specific quality standards and cost requirements.
  • Ensures cross-functional alignment at the highest level across the organization
  • Responsible for global sourcing governance, managing product, regulatory, and supply base compliance to our Corporate and industry standards.
  • Ensures engineering resources are focused on developing, managing, and establishing reasonable product-engineering specifications that meet or exceed customer requirements, and comply with all applicable industry, regulatory and U.S. Customs requirements. 
  • Engineering efforts should also focus on developing new and innovative processes, materials, manufacturing and packaging technology to produce higher value, better quality and lower cost products.
  • Responsible for building/maintaining positive relationships with factories/suppliers that provide quality goods and value-added services that meet and/or exceed customer expectations with regards to value.
  • Develops Global Sourcing strategy to source and develop new factories/suppliers globally to maintain competitive advantage as market conditions change or as Liberty Hardware’s product development strategy broadens.
  • Continue to develop and improve product costing system that evaluates and details finished goods pricing by weight, raw material, component goods, packaging and manufacturing process, and the entire supply chain value stream.  Included in this evaluation must be quality, cost, delivery, and consistency of services and product performance required by the marketplace .  Ensures cost structure maintains integrity and consistency across all items/categories.
  • Oversees procurement process from request stage, to price negotiation, through to accurate and timely delivery of products and services.  Works closely with other functional areas to ensure proper quantities and dates, while following standardized project management practices and providing exceptional internal customer service.
  • Develops and ensurse proper purchasing/sourcing policies and procedures are in-place and followed by staff, and aligned with internal audit control requirements.
  • Constantly reviews market conditions and communicates competitor information, price concerns, new regulations, global currency, commodity and international trade requirements, and/or issues related to possible service interruptions or other market changes.
  • Helps ensure all functional areas adhere to proper customer  and Corporate compliance programs.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure compliance and follow-up and bring closure to any customer non-compliance issues.
  • Develop budgets/plans that add value and accomplish business objectives.  Ensures areas and/or projects managed directly are operating within budget and time guidelines. Initiates and recommends the purchase of new equipment, technology, asset improvement or utilization of outside resources when needed.
  • Scopes the long-term opportunity, building out a 3-year roadmap of objectives, goasl strategies and measures to meet company deliverables and build capabilities in the workforce to meet the business challenges and needs.
  • Defines success for Liberty Hardware, implementing and managing through KPIs.
  • Develops and executes annual business plans delivering revenue, profit and an above threshold ROI.
  • Contribute to development and achievement of AOP and LRP targets and plans.
  • Develop, coach and mentor a team capable of carrying out operating strategies
  • Manage in a way that supports Liberty Hardware’s positioning statement, values, goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a Continuous Improvement mindset – through participation in events and activities that lead to financial gain, time savings, and/or waste reduction for the business.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university (advanced degree preferred but not required).  This position requires a minimum of 15 years of directly-related experience, with 3 years leading at the highest functional leadership level.
  • Must have proven track record of managing global supply chain and sourcing capabilities and results.  This includes work in-country with low cost country providers.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to develop and execute on supply chain strategies in a global environment.
  • Must have previous people leadership experience, managing directly and indirectly, including experience leading a cross-functional team with and without direct reporting accountability.
  • This person must possess highly developed communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, in various geographies and cultures, and with suppliers and customers.
  • Position requires a strong relationship builder who can build and nurture a high performing team.
  • Must be a creative problem-solver and be able to challenge the status quo to drive action.
  • Travel up to 50% is required.
