Liberty Hardware is seeking an experienced leader for its Vice President, Asia Operations position, a role which has responsibility for directing and coordinating all activities of Liberty Hardware’s Asia Operations and is located in Shenzhen, China.  Specifically, this leadership position reports to the Vice President of Global Sourcing for the Liberty Hardware, and has overall responsibility for the organization’s Asia Pacific Procurement, Global Sourcing, Supplier Development, Logistics, Engineering, Quality and Administration teams. In addition to having direct responsibilities for Liberty Hardware’s Asia Operations, the position also provides guidance to Masco Shared Services business units’ support staff. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all activities of the Liberty Asia Operations in the following areas: Asia Supply Chain, Commercial Sourcing and Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development, Human Resources, Logistics, Finance, Administration, Supplier Business Practice Process, Masco Shared Service Support for other Masco Business Units. 
  • Oversee and direct the supply chain efforts aligned with the Liberty Corporate Supply Chain strategy, Masco Shared Service Business Unit Support and initiatives in Asia.  Ensure supply chain efforts are focused on enabling profit improvement, product quality, identification of and development of the supply base to meet multiple product category requirements for the Masco Business units. 
  • Build and Maintain a Supplier Development Function within Asia to drive a sustainable continuous improvement culture, delivery year over year total cost productivity and improve quality and service levels.
  • Drive Supplier Development initiatives to reduce product quality defects to World Class levels, improve profit, lower inventory, reduce total delivered costs and increase total cost productivity through the Asia Supply Chain from origin to destination. 
  • Provide leadership and oversight for a robust risk management system that eliminates risk from an operational and compliance perspective.
  • Develop and manage an internal governance and control process for the Asia Legal entity to ensure compliance with all local laws and regulations in all countries of operation in Asia. 
  • Ensure compliance to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Supply Chain Security requirements, (CTPAT), and Customer Audit requirements.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining professional relationships with factories/suppliers that provide quality goods and value-added services that meet and/or exceed customer expectations with regards to value.
  • Source and develop new factories/suppliers across Asia to maintain competitive advantage in a dynamic and changing marketplace.
  • Manage and drive product costing analytics, superior negotiation and procurement strategies that deliver year over year improvement. 
  • Ensure Supply Chain readiness for New Category and New Product Development by developing a sourcing model in Asia to meet new business development objectives.
  • Constantly review market conditions and communicate to Business unit leadership, market information in materials, currency, competitor information, price concerns, new regulations, and/or issues related to possible service interruptions or other market changes.
  • Ensure logistics support to coordinate all inbound and outbound logistics functions to meet   Business Unit and Corporate requirements.  Support Evaluation and competitive bidding of service providers as needed to leverage and execute Corporate Global Logistics strategies.  Ensure Management oversight and support of third-party logistics providers in Asia. 
  • Develop a cohesive team in Asia to meet multiple requirements of Liberty Asia and Masco Shared Service Business Unit needs and skills, while maintaining a high-performing work culture in the Asia Operations. 
  • Provide leadership through budget planning cycle for Liberty and the Asia entity including Masco Shared Services, as needed.
  • Establish standards of performance that clearly communicates expectations and builds accountability.
  • Ensure personnel are properly trained on procedures, disciplines, system/equipment functionality, and safety.  Promote a safe, positive and effective work environment.
  • Build, develop, and manager a leadership team capable of carrying out operations strategies and improving employee relations.  This team should promote a ‘World-Class’ organization.
  • Establish and participate in procedure/system design and problem analysis according to changing business needs and creative new ideas.  Develop an environment that fosters and seeks constant improvement. Develop an environment that fosters a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Establish and maintain back-up plans for all critical functions to ensure the uninterrupted supply of goods and services in the event of a disaster or service interruption.
  • Manage in a way that supports Liberty and Masco Corporate and Masco Business Units’ missions, value statements, goals and objectives.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university (advanced degree preferred but not required) in Supply Chain, Engineering or Operations Management (or related field).
  • This position requires a minimum of 10 years of international Operations/Distribution/Supply Chain related leadership experience.
  • Must have proven track record of managing global supply chain and sourcing capabilities and results.  This includes work in-country with low cost country providers.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to develop and execute on supply chain strategies in a global environment.
  • Must have previous people leadership experience, managing directly and indirectly, including experience leading a cross-functional team with and without direct reporting accountability.
  • This person must possess highly developed communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, in various geographies and cultures, and with suppliers and customers. Bi-lingual required.
  • Position requires a strong relationship builder who can build and nurture a high performing team.
  • Must be a creative problem-solver and be able to challenge the status quo to drive action.
  • Travel up to 50% is required.
